Panic attack over cdl resolved.

You would think that at 50 years of age I would know better, especially since I know that I have this problem and have fallen victim before many times. My first response to a problem is to panic, then after a sufficient amount of distress just do what it takes to fix it. LMAO!! It took a total of 20 minutes on the phone today with the state on MN. to get the problem fixed, my new cdl should be in the mail in 7-10 days. I guess I can legitimately say that I would never guess that a state agency would fix something like this with just a simple phone call, but that's what it took. That is assuming that it actually is fixed. I suppose that my panic comes at least in part from the fact that I'm already tight financially because of other things so anything that would affect that is a major concern because there is little or no reserve to fall back on. I still feel foolish for over reacting tho. Maybe next time I will think before acting,.......or maybe not. lol

Glad you got it fixed.
I know what you mean though. I fuss and fume over things, but when the crap really does hit the fan and the adrenaline starts to flow, that's when I come to life and actually get things done.

I am the same age as you and know all too well about those limited resources !
Wasn't that long ago it seemed like I was doing well and could start gaining ? Didn't take long for that to not happen. Everything seemed to double but my wages ?

Glad you got it fixed, it's amazing what you can accomplish over the phone or with an email. We like email because we have a record of the correspondence.

You sound like my whole family! Stress, drama, the world is coming to an end, etc. I have had three calls today about things that will fix them selves and one that requires a phone call, the decision was should him or me make the call. I am 70 years old and my dad died at 48 with a heart attack. Just keep calm, you will live longer or at least enjoy what you time you have.

Not to be a stick in the mud, but to a teenage girl, this probably wouldn't sound NEARLY as bad as running out of your favorite color nail polish... :)

As my buddy would say: When the sh!t hits the fan, just reach over and turn it off.

Glad to hear you got it handled! Bryce

Glad to hear it. This is the reason I wanted to avail myself of any exemptions possible as a farmer driving my own straight truck in NY.

The info. they sent was abbreviated. A trip to the local DMV yielded misinformation. A discussion on here brought out more info., as well as the usual critics. Finally a call to Albany straightened it out! Another trip to the local DMV to get my new license almost failed as they were still misinformed. But on my insistence they checked further and issued my license as they should have the first time.

Makes me wonder why the ignorance. Is it the local office's incompetence? Or is it some game they play starting in Albany?

Contrary to public misconceptions, there are some good people working for state governments. However, there are also some incompetents workers, so one has to persevere and keep trying until you reach someone that can and will help you.

I knew immediately when I talked to someone in state government that wouldn't help me, so I just went around them and found somebody that could help me - and I was a state employee at the time.

That is great news. I walked clear across the shop, sat down at the computer and opened this site, just to check and see if you posted anything on your situation. Curiosity was really getting me, to see how this would pan out. BW

You are lucky, you found the one government employee out of a hundred who cared enough to do a good job. Not the one on his donut break or the one using the state computer to access YT or the one close to retirement working out how much sick and vacation time to apply to his retirement. I worked 27 years for NY and found few workers who cared enough to do a good job.

My question is how on earth did you get a live person on the phone at a government office? Much less anyone who knows or cares about your problem. Are you sure you didn't just talk to the janitor and he told you what you wanted to hear? Anyhoo, good for you. :) TDF

Glad to hear it! I was really worried about you this morning when I didn't see a today's funny from you.

Nice that it worked out.

Reminds me of the time I got a letter from the IRS about a problem with my return. I stayed calm, called the 800 number on the letter and talked to a polite woman who asked a few questions about various forms. Toward the end she asked about a 1099 for $5000 from the state of Illinois. Huh? It had my wife"s SSN but the wrong name, and we live in PA. No problem, she closed the file and apologized for the trouble.

Reminds me of back in 65 when I got out of Air Force. Had a mobil home in Florida that had never been plated. Bought a truck from a buddy that i would be using to drag the home to Mn. Truck had been in storage, with 3 year expired N. Y. plates. Local lic office said would be at least 3 weeks to get plates. Drove to St Paul with papers in hand. Twenty minutes at state office & I had 2 sets of plates & temp registration. Went to pick up the truck& my house, perm titles were waiting for me when I got back.

Wow. Glad to hear its fixed. You have to watch these guys like a hawk. Spelling, middle initial, endorsements. Having same problem with Pa dot.

A preacher once gave a lengthy sermon on the evils of worry. He went on and on about how worry robs us of joy and of seeing the good things around us. He concluded by saying most of the time, what we're worried about never happens any way. At this point, an old lady stood up and said, "You see, Preacher, it works!"

Glad you got it worked out. Without trucks, America stops.

I just had to send in a form explaining why I am exempt from having to have a physical to go along with my class A.
They said if I didn't send it in I would automatically have my license downgraded to class C.
I called them and asked about it.
I said I'm not currently driving trucks but want to keep my options open.
They told me which box to check and I sent it in.
I don't know why I keep up the Class A as I haven't used it in 25 years but...

Life is to short to worry about everything. All things usually work out okay. You'll learn this as you get a little older.

Well, I can well understand the initial panic, considering the problems you have had lately! But, now and then things do go in our favor when we least expect it. Glad you got it worked out so easily!
