OT, RANT!!! People.....

My gosh, some days people just get on my nerves. It is currently 7:40 here, and at 6:20 this morning, a guy working at a neighbors house calls in a panic because he needs to borrow 3 5 gallon buckets. YOU CALLED ME AT 6:20 IN THE MORNING?!?!? REALLY?!?! Yes, I was already up, and so was dad, but my mom has terrible sleeping problems, and usually won't get up until 9-10. So, I call him back to say that I went out side and tracked down some buckets. Hey says okay, I will come get them. Well because I didn't want the dogs to go ballistic, I said I will meet you at the end of our drive way, at 7:20, 1/8th of a mile, maybe. So, at 15 after I started walking in my pj's, and milkers with my buckets. I get to the meeting point at 19 after, stood there (-3 outside) until 35 after, left the buckets, and came home. I can't believe the guy.... Stuff like that just irritates the living _ _ _ _ out of me.... Oh well, Bryce

Why did you agreed to give him buckets? He should have his own tools and buckets.

got them here in droves, each one calls himself a proffessional, each one takes on a job then has to figure out how to do it even though he's been hired because he is supposed to know already, then each one seems to lack basic equipment to do the job,

We get nuisance calls too from 703 447-2162 (VA) and when we answer even after one ring, they hang up, sometimes 6 times a day. Any way to block them on cell-phone?

Well, I know the guy really well, and have done a lot of work with/for him. Town is more than 40min away, and they live 4 hours away and live at this house for the week while they are working on it.
I certainly don't mind lending the guy buckets, I just can't stand these d@mn people that are late to their own funeral....

Bryce,
You get that 560 Farmall running nice and smooth and you will feel better. Probably just needs a new amtriculator.

I hope you rinsed them out before you took them to him.. Just Kidding..

Lots of self-centered folks out there these days, and getting worse..

I'm sure it's a bit different on every phone, but on my Samsung Trac-fone if you go to the call log and find that number there's an option to automatically reject their calls. I had to do that with a DC-area number a while ago--from some research I did, the scammers use DC-area numbers as people are more apt to pick the call up if they think it's from someone in the government. The calls typically originate elsewhere, however--they're just using (illegal, of course) software to look like they're coming from there.

What 560? I don't have one?? Do you mean my new Super C? If so I have a new fuel bowl to go put on it today.

By the way, I am not too sure what a amtriculator is?

Come on he had no idea your mother was sleeping he saw your lights on and called and 10 minutes the guy seemed to be quite busy 10 minutes is nothing. As far your dogs you should train them better. No stop and look at his side for awhile and maybe you will feel better about it.

Bryce, LA in WI is of the opinion that since this is a tractor website the discussions should be limited to tractor subjects. That is just his way of gently reminding you (and me sometimes) that tractors are the reason behind the website. You may or may not agree with him but at least he is being civil about it, some people will just be jerks and never get the point across because all they have done is make an enemy.

I agree, HOWEVER, we are all alone in the woods, so he never saw the house, he KNOWS my mom has sleep problems.
I personally think my dogs are trained the way I want them trained. We don't allow people on our property (hunting/trespassing), and that's what they are trained to do. Everyone that knows us knows that if they come to our house, it isn't safe to get out of the car until one of us is standing there with the dogs, thats just the way it is.

I didn't think it was a big problem, I sorry if thats how I cam across to some of you guys! I guess I will think twice before posting next time... Bryce

an,, you make a fuss about 10 min and -3!
Musta stepped with the wrong leg outa bed.
Should have told the guy just to come over, If he comes..fine,..if not,..fine too.

LOL, you certainly won't like me then because I plan on being late for my funeral. While on that subject I saw a guy yesterday in Memphis that must have been late for his funeral. I got cut off by a hearse, a first for me. I wasn't the only one either, he was weaving through traffic like a common new yorker. lol It wasn't a procession either, just a hearse with a flag draped coffin in back. The only thing that came to mind at the time was that the guy in the coffin must have been yellin "hurry up, I can't wait to see which way I'm goin".

You do know that if you train your dogs to be mean and they hurt somebody who comes by to visit or have other business with you that you can be fined put in jail and face a multimillion lawsuit. If I were you I'd change my no body get on my property attitude before it boils over into something that you may not be to happy with.
Just my opinion but you might talk to a lawyer about your rights.

Should have left them at the road and went home.....I agree 6:20 is a bit rude, but maybe they had an emergency.BTW,Get rid of those d@nm mean dogs!!!!!

Pretty common in the north Idaho backwoods...I went to look at some equipment once and the owner would not give me an address...didn't believe in them. He gave me directions. Lots of paranoia up in these parts after Ruby Ridge and the Arian Nations

I almost always show up before my appointment time - and sometimes people get mad at me for doing that!

I"m with you on this one - if you call and tell me you have an emergency need for buckets, get your butt over to pick them up when you say you will.

As to the dogs, I am leery of owning a mean dog, but I can see in some isolated areas where it would be the lesser of two evils for me. Right now, my dog and I have an understanding - she gives the warning bark and I bring the backup artillary. That could change as I get older..

Well, then that's what will happen! We are very protective of our land. And I agree with Eldon, there are a LOT of people just like us around here. Most of our neighbors don't have computers/phones, a few don't even have electricity. I don't want to put out the image that my family are a bunch of un-educated hicks, we just like our privacy. Around here everyone is afraid of every one elses dog. It is common rule to be VERY cautious when going to someone elses house.

As for a law suit, I am not concerned. We were robbed once, and about a year later I was home alone and a guy we knew came sneaking down the drive way, and then proceeded to come down the front deck, he opened the front door to find a 13 year old boy standing there shivering with a middle break 12 gauge, loaded. He decided that it wasn't worth it and left. Had he decided to come in, he might not have walked back out!

Thanks to all of you that responded. I guess I over reacted about the situation. I certainly won't post something like it again! I must say though, all of you that obviously have a problem with me posting an OT (like many others do), I would much rather you just said, hey listen this is a TRACTOR forum, so don't do that, rather than your smart a$$ replies, some of which are kind of rude and/or hurtful.

Anyway, I am going out to plow snow, hope everyone has a good day! Bryce

You waited 14 1/2 minutes longer than I would have. And keep your dogs and ignore the naysayers. TDF

Well sounds like to me nobody is welcome at your place people are worried anymore a person is going to carry their dirt off just saying

Ditto. Guy calls, wants something, should be there when he says he will be.
My dog & I have same deal. He barks or the driveway alarm goes off, I check it out & if necessary break out the AR. Now that I'm older I added a laser to it & a flash light.

Probably not worth losing a relationship with a neighbor over.
I would remind him of the reasons he should not call that early
unless it is an emergency.
Then tell him in no uncertain terms that if it is an emergency
his butt better be on time or there will not be a next time.
Emergency or not.

Bryce, I hav no problems with OT except I don't understand putting OT in the title. Please don't take this the wrong way, but I didn't have you figured for one who would still be in his PJs at 6:20 let alone 7:20.

Oh no, no offenses taken! See, I get up at 6 every day, I walk down the hall, and sit my a$$ infront of a computer. I do all of my school, (in my pj's), and then at about 9 or 10 I get dressed and go outside to go about with my other chores! Bryce

"dog and I have an understanding - she gives the warning bark and I bring the backup artillary. That could change as I get older.."

So you're going to bark, & the dog is going to come out with the shotgun. LOL !

Now THAT I would like to see!

LOL, LOL, LOL !
