20 years ago, I could have told you the direction of oil flow in every passage in the thing.
Now that I'm older, I don't really care anymore; just repair 'em and get out. :>)

Done two of them sofar . A poor design if yopu ask me on the way the rev. shell is made.

The clutch basket looks a mite thin and blue at the splines! I agree it is a weak design. Jim

These things are designed for only 700K shifts.....Just like GM wants. :>)

Yes, the sun gear shells are a common problem on those units. Often they crack right around the splines. There are three kinds of aftermarket replacements for them. One kind is like the stock shell, but is hardened around the splines. The other two are thicker, with reinforced spline areas. They go by the names of "The Beast", and the "tank" or monster. If that unit has a lot of miles on it, it would pay to replace it.
