FORD 3000 SOS PROBLEM HELP PLEASE

MY DAD PASSED AND I AM TAKING CARE OF THE FARM NOW. I WAS ON THE FORD 3000 AND STUCK SO I WAS TRYING TO ROCK IT BACK AND FORTH TO GET LOOSE. WELL NOW WHEN I MOVE GEAR SELECTOR LEVER IT JUST STAYS IN PARK NO MATTER WHERE I MIVE IT. TOOK GEAR SELECTOR HOUSING APART AND I PULLED THE CABLE WITH PLIERS INTO A FORWARD GEAR AND GOT IT HOME. PLEASE HELP....WHAT HAVE I BROKE AND WHAT PART DO I NEED? THIS FARMING TRACTORS AARE CONFUSING, LOL
 
Seems like if the cable works, you should be able to see what's broken in the housing.
If not, post your question on the Ford forum here on YT.

Not a good idea!

DO NOT attempt to remove the transmission top cover and/or shifter or PTO cables without first getting a proper Ford service manual and reading and understanding the appropriate sections.

Doing so can result in damage that is expensive to repair and some parts are not available.

Since you pulled the cable with pliers and got it home it's probably not anything to major. Get a manual and read it before you do much more and pay attention to the warnings, as it was said before if you try to take it a part or put it back together with out paying heed to those pesky warnings things get bent or broken, things like say little spool valves. I did that about 1980, the valve was NLA but lucky for me the dealer still had ONE on the shelf but took them an hour to figure out how much to charge me for it.
