Ok Winter has never botherd me much, Live where
I live because I like the change of seasons.

BUT!!!!!! This morning I open the basement door
at 5:30 to head to the barn & there is a perfect
imprint of my door including the Door KNOB..
So I turn around & put on more cloths, make a
& do a Olympic swan dive out the door ( 9.2 )
Grab the shovel proceed to make a path in 45MPH
wind gust"s.. Once the walk is cleared off I
head & Ask my partner in crime, WTH is your S10
sitting in the middle of the driveway?? His
reply I"m stuck you Butt Wipe..... & We
Laugh...

Now I"m here at the Ford Store with the same
amounts of snow ready for business after I ran
our snow blower since 6:10AM & the other guys
are plowing with a F350 & Boss V plow.... I am
sure here in North Western Pa, We"ve had enough
of this White stuff. At least it"s in the 20°s.

About 10 miles west of Titusville, last night
the wind was out of the east, thismorning it's
out of the west. It's the Wind & the drifting
that's bad. & to top things off Ford Motor
just called & said the semi that pulls the
double trailers out Detroit PDC is on it's side
somewhere between Detroit & Cleveland & I have
about 4K in Crash parts in todays Order?? So
I guess I won't see any parts today & that means
neither will my customers. I might have a load
of Well Crashed parts...

I now think it's a wives tail about when Lake
freeze's over the snow slacks off in the snow
belts... I really doudt if we got much over 6
to 8" but right now it's all in the low spots.

Yes Wentworth's & I heard some thunder too while
shoveling. Wishing it was rain, but if it warms
& rains We are going to have a Mell of a Hess..

And it's still snowing & Blowing...

I heard the thunder too right after the phone call saying my daughter's school was on 2 hr delay, which has since been cancelled! The trip to work was also fun since my road and the next one I go on had not been plowed and were both one lane with over a foot of snow I would have hated to meet someone as the first road is hairy passing someone when it is clear out, today both vehicles would have been in the ditch no doubt about it. One more thing, last night as I was out putting a tractor away my daughter was out playing in the snow and she said to me "Daddy if you could make it summer would you please do it now!" She is sick of this and she is only 8!

Well, you started this rant. It finally hit critical mass here this morning. I haven't been able to get manure out in over a month, just keeps piling up,more snow, freezing in,gates were at the point of barely opening, some haven't opened since December. We got about 8 inches over night. The cattle in the finishing pen finally went over it overnight. Broke a board fence so they could just walk in and out. Had to have the wife drag the gate around so I could get a bale in and coax them back where they belong. Feed bunks were level full of snow, had to clean all of them out. The bunker silo had to be cleaned out to get to the silage.
I still haven't plowed the driveway. I got hungry and had to come in for a few minutes. On my way back out,but if this short thaw that's coming isn't enough to get some of the snow and ice out of those feedlots,I honest to God don't know what I'm gonna do. I was at the end of my rope. I lost my grip and fell off this morning.

Praise God you have had good snows.. The spring hay/pasture growth should be good for you guys. Here in Nebraska havent had SPIT..nothing to write home about.. and need it badly. I dont remember a winter where I walked across the field and saw large cracks. I hope to get rain in the next few months or 2014 is going to be worse than 2012. Good luck to you but just look about two-three months into the future...im done..

So Far?? We are still spreading, but using a
730 J/D wide frt with Chains.. 520 N/H spreader
fill to the hilt every morning. It been a
struggle.. The 2750 4wd which is Wore out with
14K hours that should have been traded off 2
years ago Blew up. Can"t take a whole lot more.

I just can't get it loose. I'm going to have to try the tine bucket. I just hope I don't get in to any cracks in the concrete and tear that up.

I don't miss that stuff- or the mud under it!
Grew up milking cows about 5 minutes from the Pioneer show grounds there near Saegertown.
My French teacher lived in Titusville, her and her husband grew Christmas trees.
We had enough snow to get the old 2wd Cummins stuck, and it melted over the weekend. Supposed to hit 70 here today but I think the wind would flip the amigo off the side of the road.

Snow ? Winter? Yeah we got some , But life has been going on here as per normal . Lots of feed , cows in the barn , snow blower on the tractor , and a big pile of manure under the stable cleaner. Seems like a regular winter to me ! Just a few more weeks , and stand back and watch the spring runoff .

My fat cattle lot has so much frozen buildup that I am thinking of calling a hoof trimmer to shave off their feet so they can reach into the feed bunks. We have J bunks with posts and boards they must reach under. The smaller cattle kneel down but the big ones do not like to as much. With the cold it seems the cattle are not growing just seeem to set still.

T in NE... I went to high school in Townville
All Part of Penn Crest School Dist.. Now

I've got the same setup. They have to get on their knees, can't get any weight on'em.
I FINALLY got most of the south lot cleaned today. This past years calves are in there. It had gotten to where they weren't even eating out of one part of the bunk because they would about have to lay down to get in it. That's cleaned out now anyway. I had to use the tine bucket and break it loose. There's probably two loads frozen in the back of there yet.
Gonna try to get some out of the finishing pen tomorrow. What a mess!

6-7 miles from Saegertown school but being out in Cussewago they sent us 10 miles (my door to the school door) to Cambridge. That's once I started driving. Probably 30-35 by bus. Took an hour to get to or from school.

We seeded and mulched the bank on the ball field at Saegertown when I was in high school. Also did the dirt work for the new ball field at Cambridge and set the concrete blocks for the bridge. I could wait on my dad and uncle to get done there for the day and beat the bus home riding with them.

Guess now Cussewago is an Amish school. Haven't been back yet in 3 1/2 years.

finally supposed to get a few days above freezing here.
yay! might be able to get one of my shed doors open after months of being froze down.
I did a lot of plowing, scraping yesterday, hoping to see ground
on my trails if it gets warm enough.
Also, busted thru deep snow where I know my water likes to run off....hopefully it will help if it starts to melt
