Another Stupid find.

The more I work on the MH44 WF, the more stupid I feel for buying it.

I found one of the wheel bearings was replaced with a ball bearing and the outer race was shimmed in with a power hacksaw blade.

I think one of the spindles is bent too, gotta check that out.

Every used and many new purchases have grief. I feel the pain often. From recalls on new cars to carseats with disfunctional release straps, at least yours is sitting still. Jim

One of the transmission bearings in my Ford Ranger is shimmed on the ID. The stuff was called "Shim in a Can". It runs like a top.

I swore up and down plastic snakes were gonna come flying out when I open it up...

Have you-all tried to get the car seats (for small people) snapped in. All most impossible to get them unhooked. I have to rest between seats. Have two sets of twin grand kids.

The one in my car I had to cut the latch belt because it wouldn't come undone when I needed to get the seat out of my car. Seat belt works just fine now.... one of the seats in my wifes van has a recall on the straps, so they'll send a new set of straps that needs to be replaced.

I have found many "rigged" up fixes over the years.

I bought a JD 3020 years ago. That thing was rigged up from one end to the other. They had removed the engine balancer completely. Then the transmission input shaft was welded to one of the bearing as it has spun on the shaft earlier. Ring gear had a tooth welded back on and ground off smooth. The funny thing was this. I fixed the engine balancer issue. Then when I found all the problems in the transmission/rear end I decided o pull the pin. I just stuck it back together and sold it for a parts tractor. I knew the guy that bought it. I told him all that was wrong with it. He did not part it out. He used the tractor for years hauling hay out to his cows on a remote farm. He never had any transmission issues with the rigged up repairs. IF I had tried to use it the darn thing would have blown up when I drove it across the yard.

The good news is that I have a spare hub, I am thinking about having the spindle spray welded and ground true.
