poison starlings

Good question, I have heard of using tincture of nicotene, wherever you get that, I hate those nasty things. I had 5 or so hanging around the cattle yard. I'm down to one using a shotgun. One I blew off the tripod of a 50' silo, I'll bet that smart azz thought he was safe from everything, sure enjoyed watching him fall.

Trap them is a better way, bait with bread, corn or other grain, song birds won't enter the trap with the starlings and the starlings already in the trap lure more in, when you have a bunch in the trap you can drown them in a water trough or pond and start over.

do as our premier once said about dead cows... shoot shovel shutup!
don't matter how small an animal there will be someone on ur azz.

The starling traps were in a recent issue of Farm Show. I think they recommended throwing a tarp over if when it was "full" and gassing them with car exhaust.

Poisioning with a poision that self destructs over time and putting them in the ground is OK. using a lawn mower, old truck with carb, or tractor for Carbon Monoxide is far better than new cars or trucks, the new ones have little CO. Jim

A farmer near Mascoutah, Ill used furadan (carbofuran) a few years ago and got into hot water when thousands of birds died on his treated wheat field. Don't recall the details now but remember that he had a pretty hefty fine due to thousands of federally protected migratory birds that were also killed with the starlings.

I remember that. The flock ate the poison and took off. They died while flying over some town and it rained down dead birds everywhere.
