A little hard work never hurt anyone. My dad on the right passed away at 88 years of age and his brother on the left (My Uncle) passed yesterday at age of 93. Up until 6 weeks ago he could da a days work. Farmed ,ran a sawmill, dozer all his life. Avid outdoors man but always worked HARD.
Both are proof that hard work does not kill a man.

No both of them were 6 2 or better and in the range of 270 an up not fat but pretty well built. I would not have wanted to meet either in a dark alley. Never know of Dad being in a fight but have heard of a few scrapes from the uncle,s side and I think the other guy always got the worst end of the deal. His hands were probably as big as my feet just a big strong guy with a kind heart.

You gotta love the pictures of your family like that. I have been working on getting all of mine scanned as time permits.

Agree with the other posters, if you keep active, its seems you sure live a lot longer.

Sorry for your loss JM.
What kind of sawmill and dozer he operate?
Both occupations are good honest work.
What part of the country are ya ?

I have a friend that must be 75. He is a logger although he hires the choppers and chippers, he does just the hauling. He hauls into his log yard and Canadiens come and buy the logs from him. He also runs a sawmill. He just bought a nearby property at auction where he will put up a new house, and move his sawmill and log yard into it. I am slowing down a lot at 64 but it looks like he plans to keep charging. He is skinny as a rail.

Buddy West Tennessee.. My family ran a fairly large sawmill and my uncle was always the sawyer. Dozers gosh they must have had a dozen starting in the early 50s with an oliver, then to 14, 24 internationals and latter years td 15 b & c.

It did kill my great grandfather, got hit with a mine car, finished out his shift and went home and died. Family (included my grandmother) had a tough time after that. This long before the days of workers comp and such.
