Wife wanted a new lawn mower(she loves mowing the south 40), so I bought her a Deere 3320 compact, but without the mid-pto, which drives the mowing deck. Any body have any ideas if the installation takes a genius? Pretty handy at such things.

You bought a tractor with a belly mower and they forgot the mid pto.Boy that salesman is a mental giant.

I am guessing its not simple and the parts aren't cheap. They may have a kit. Guess I am confused. Did you get a mid-mount deck with it and they just forgot to tell you it had no mid pto?

I'm confused. Why did you buy a tractor for her without the mid-PTO? Sell it, buy one with it will probably be the best way to go. Tom

James bought me a JD "M" for our 20th anniversary.

We put a Bush Hog finishing mower, 3 pt mount, on it and use it to mow the yard and around the shop. Works great and is fun to use.

Tractor cost $2,000. Mower $500 (I think).

James - if you read this, post a pic.

Check what it will cost to trade for one with a mid-PTO. If you haven't used the machine yet, your dealer/retailer should be willing to exchange machines for the price difference.

Will modifying the machine yourself affect your warranty?

I didn't drop 20 grand, but I bought this little beauty for the wife the year before last. I'm gaining on it. I'll finish painting it one of these years.

Bought it used, as bargain basement price, and, yes, she is worth it. My local dealer said I shouldn't try it myself, but after 69 years of experience, and with tools and time, I don't know why I shouldn't try.

She is a Badger from Wisconsin, and loves to cut the grass here in the South.
