Went up and saw the Misses this afternoon. She is feeling much better. She still has two more surgeries plus a lot of physical therapy to get her going again. She likes the staff at Mayo much better than Iowa City or Dubuque. So we talked it over and she is going to do her recovery totally at Mayo. They have a kind of assisted living section that she can be in her own little suite. They are kind of like a small apartment. She will not have to go out side to get to any of the stuff they need to do. There is enclosed walk way to the main hospital from where she will be.

I like that she will have the people that are actually doing the surgeries checking on her regularly and they will be coordinating her physical therapy. I think that will be better than some one that does not met face to face with the Doctor that is in charge so to speak.

She told me that there had better be no strange women around. LAMO I never have actually had to do the whole dating thing. The first wife and I grew up together. My second wife is the sister of an old Army buddy that came and was helping with the kids after my first wife passed away. So in the normal type of dating deal I never have. So the idea of me out running around after women is kind of funny and about likely to happen as hitting the lotto twice. We still joke about it though.

She tried to get me to go swimming with her this afternoon. She is doing that as part of her therapy. She loves swimming. Me not so much. I can swim but usually not unless it is hotter than heck do I voluntarily go swimming.

Well I will get to eat all the things I like. LOL The dogs might get a run for their money. They usually are the odor creators but after a few days of chili or bean & corn bread I might be able to hold my own. LMAO.

Have a Good Week fellows!!!!

Well, at the end of six to eight weeks, it should be warm enough to open the windows and let the house air out! LOL I'm sure family will take good care of you.

Ronnie- I"m glad that things are working out for you and the better half.....she certainly gets the best of care at Mayo.

My better half and I got home today from the NO trip. She likes to see how things are put together, so we enjoyed the Waterloo plant. Made stops in Hannibal, MO, Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, then Dexter, MO, to honor a grave of a Medal of Honor winner (George Sisler) that I trained with in SF for a short time. Remember the USS COLE? Named after one of five MO Veterans who are MOH winners, at the museum in Bloomfield, a town just north of Dexter.

Ladies at the museum were wonderful to visit with.....I said I noticed you don"t have a Green Beret on display, and Lt. Sisler was one. "Would you like one"? YES! I said, I"ll send you one- Patch will be different, It"ll be from the 8th SFG, not the 5th SFG from Nam.

NO was cold and icy....roads shut down. Still a fun trip. I did not contact you about mtg on the return cuz with this weather, you don"t need casual visitors. But I do appreciate your willingness to meet.

Let"s do it another time, hopefully warmer, and when you don"t have so many irons in the fire. Best wishes for your wife"s recovery......Jim

Glad your missus is getting better and in better form.....Just don't you go striking any matches in that house, with all that methane around!..............Sam

Sounds like good news, glad things are going well for her , and you. Sounds like she is happy with her care and surroundings and that should make a big difference with her recovery. Best of luck to you both.

I'm a lousy cook, but one of the first things that I learned when I had to batch for a few days was to never have fried eggs and baked beans together for lunch. It was a good thing that I was outside on the open station tractor all afternoon.

we are wishing you and Mrs JD the best.Too Bad we are so far away,we always cook extra.Dont you have any steaks in the freezer, raising all the beef? Thaw some of them out,Ill come cook them for you, just thaw out some for me too!!! lol

I hope it all turns out well for you and your wife. Our family has had excellent results with Mayo also.Sometimes one has to get out of ones comfort zone a little to experience lifes best. It sounds like your wife would be thrilled if you swim with her. I am like you, my wife was a Michifish at the Univ of Michigan (synchronized swimming) and loves the water, me not so much, but I bet your wife would really love to have you participate in her rehab.

Glad to hear that everything is going well. I am having surgery there myself on the nineteenth of this month. Will be at Methodist for hopefully less than a week.

Glad to hear things are going well. Six weeks seems like a long time but if the end results are good that's what counts. Like Larry said, it's too bad we don't live closer. Marilyn seems to only know how to cook in army sized proportions from being raised in a huge family. We're always eating the same stuff for days on end till it's gone. Jim

Just don't make the place so much like a man cave that you can't get it back in shape. Believe my even simple changes will be noted in the FAIL column. Just joking a little. I am glad she is doing well. Jim
