OT/Nissan Armada

I know this is way off topic, but I know you will give honest answers. We have been looking for a used SUV and just recently came across a 2007 Nissan Armada. Pretty much what we are looking for. Lower miles in our price range. The thing about it though, we have never even heard of this model. 95% of the suv's around here are the Tahoe and suburbuns. The reviews I read are all pretty positive. How can I be sure that it is not a "flood vehicle" from Hurricane Sandy in New York. I know all vehicles from New York weren't affected by the flood, but this vehicle did come from New York. We are in South Dakota. Carfax gave it a thumbs up.

The repairs on a the imports scare me to death. They can be hard to find parts for. Especially the models that are not that popular. Look around where you live and see if there are any/many of the model you are looking at. Many Dealers??? On a used vehicle the support business are a important factor in whether I buy them or not.

Consumer Reports magazine has an annual issue with repair frequency and a bunch of other data about all the makes and models. Libraries usually subscribe to the magazine.

My adopted daughter has the Infiniti version of the Armada. It has made many expensive trips to the repair shop.

If you are around Sioux Falls or Rapid it might be an ok purchase. Personally i would pass on something that was imported from that far away.

My sister in law had one for a while. It ate battery's I mean she was changing them like every 6 months . Took it to a dealer the first time. They checked everything out and could not find anything wrong. So the next time she needed a battery she took it to a local mechanic that worked on Nissan's and he could not find anything wrong . So since then she has put on several different brands of battery's and it still did not work. She sold it with a new battery on it a few months ago. But other than that problem she liked it .

c-man, I own a 2006 Nissan Titan. (same platform as the Armada and i think the are both built in Mississippi)Bought it in 2009. I replaced the battery last year, and it now has 75k miles on it. No other issues.
Truck previous was a 99 GMC Sierra. Although the Titan has more HP, would GLADLY give up 50 HP for 2-3 more MPG. My 5.6 Nissan is a little thirsty. That is my only complaint.

I am a SD Tahoe owner. Burb before that. Why do you think there are so many of them ?
They run forever. Easy to get 250k on original engine and tranny. Inexpensive. You can go out and find half dozen of them tomorrow with about 140k on the clock, for less than $7000. Powerful. They can tow more than most all other SUVs and a lot of pickups. Cheap to register and insure. Go anywhere. I put tall narrow studded tires on all corners for the winter and drive around all other stuck vehicles (that are blocking the road).Keep your foot out of it and get 17mpg. More on newer 5.3
