Very hard to say till it is opened up and what is wrong figured out. Could be $500 up to and over $2500

A lot more then it is worth . The labor just to get it out will not come cheap. If you could find a gear drive center section and do the work yourself would be the way to go . I did a guys 580B that had a shuttle problem and he had more in repairs then had he just scrapped it and went and bought another hoe . +

Gotta agree with old. Seems around here the big problem is finding someone who will work on it.

Not worth bothering with. It will cost about the same as having an auto tranny rebuilt on a mid-sized pick-up and you will still have a tractor that very few would want. As, stated by others, buy a gear shift tranny at a salvage yard and replace the SOS. Even that is not a good solution unless the tractor is a diesel in excellent shape.

Post where you are, and perhaps someone can point you to a shop that works on them routinely enough to do it cost effectively enough. For instance Page equipment in Luray VA
