Tom, do you happen to know why or how Joe Wade died?

Somewhere I still have an old Midwest Speedway program from when my cousin, Duane, and I had a sprint car that has a half page photo of Joe's car in mid air above ours. And the two cars never touched.

It's an accepted fact that when you drive an open wheel race car, sooner or later you're going to get in some flight time. Duane, himself, used to carry in his wallet a three collumn photo out of a local newspaper that showed him in his super modified in mid air with another car going through under him.

No Goose, I don't know too much about Joe Wade. I followed some of the sprint races here in central Nebraska(the track at Doniphan)back in the 1970's. Willie Hecke was the big name at that track back then. I might have to do some research about Joe Wade.
Later,
Tom

oose, here's a link to a obit but very little mentioned. I have heard of him a bit when I was racing but that has been a few years ago now but I run through the ranks up into a limited late model when I stopped. Sprint car guys ran east and us guys ran west and didn't see much of each other. Here is a link.http://www.bmlfh.com/obituary.php?id=2183

Joe drove a black #12 stock car in the '70's when we were into stock cars, then when Duane and I got involved with sprints in the early 80's, he drove a black #12 sprint.

His obit says he was 65, and also mentioned he drove a truck. When I was with Seward Ford around 1990, he occasionally made deliveries, depending on who the shipper was.

Shoulda mentioned, the obit gave his address as Dorchester, so I thought maybe you'd heard something.
