Every year I have to renew three plates. Instead of them mailing all three notices together they mail them seperate.
When I get all three notices I mail the check fur all three at the same time.
And you know vhat? They mail the plates back one at a time.
It seems like a vaste of money fur the extra postage, but since vhen do goverment vorkers use common sense?

By now you should know the government way is to do things in the way that is the most inefficient way it can be done. That is why it cost so much for them to do any thing.
Sort of like when I still drove a dump truck for a living. We where working on a highway. One day a guy came in and surveyed and siad we where an inch above grade. Took a week and 10 trucks at $50 per hour 12 hour days to take it down 1 inch. A different guy came in that next week and said it was an inch below grade so we spent another week 12 hour days at $50 per hour per truck to put it all back

Same here in IL.
If they were more efficient there wouldn't be a need for so many government workers. What incentive do they have to be more efficient and possibly lose their job?

Are you boycotting using W's?

MAY have to do with your County. Polk County, in Iowa, puts the renewal notices in one envelope. You pay a total amount, with 50 cents added on for each tag, OR you can go to the County office building and pay without the 50 cent fee. That's what I do, as Property taxes are due the same month. For five dollars, you can get the due date changed on any that fall at an odd time.

Old, I saw something similar. We had some remodeling contracts at a couple of military bases. Across the street from where I was working they had new concrete sidewalks poured. A few weeks later tore out part of the new walk so they could bury new utility lines. Then they hurried up and repoured what they tore out on top of lose fill. The next spring they tore out those sections because they had settled and repoured them again.

Then there was the time they had a new boiler installed to heat the Olympic size swimming pool in the rec hall. They fired up the boiler long enough to test it. Then they drained the pool, filled it in with jeep engines, airplane parts, big rolls of copper wire, etc. Then put gravel on top of that stuff and used it for a warehouse.

the monroe radio shack is in a fairly new strip mall
the wheel ramp in front of radio was fractions of an inch to high or low i don"t remember which some hotshot from state of wisconsin said it has to come out and be redone the building owner said i will not pay this.
the last i heard when building owner took a hard nose stance the whole deal was dropped.

I think the problem is that everything is computerized or set up to operate a certain way to save on labor. They just aren't set up to send everything together, and to send together would take more labor, and or money than sending separately.

your lucky you got them sent my money they said i was late(sent 15 days before due date) ok sent more money in .got stop by cop said plates no good went to state office asked the guy how much paid him asked everthing ok no problems gave me sticker and paper..christmas present from our local crooks court date and 175 fine . ok checked online invalid plate called state more papers said it wasnt up to date want 165 bucks. i guess the want me to get a horse then the probably want a plate for that. what gets me is the people that drive with no plates like the guy who has a temp plate and has it covered with plastic to keep the cardboard dry had it that way for 6 months then differnt car.

El, that's been going on for years. Up at Aberdeen Proving Ground about thirty years ago, they built a new mess hall. All new stainless work tables, dishwasher and dishracks, the whole nine yards to US gubbermint specs. Buddy of mine was in the Fire Department doing an inspection run of the building when one of the contractors mentioned that it was all going to the scrap yard and the nice new building was going to be torn down. He talked to someone about the tables and such for a local VFC that had just built a new community hall, and the guy said to see the base commander, get a property pass and come get anything they wanted. Two truckloads of brand new stuff, still in the box later, now graced their new kitchen. Local Health Department azzhole says they can't use it- it didn't have an NSF sticker on it. Says the NSF stickered stuff had rounded edges instead of square, so nobody would bump them and get hurt. That cost them some $20,000 for another new set of tables and kitchen equipment.....

In NC they date the notices on the renewal date for the tag. Plus they get their county property tax for that vehicle when the tag is issued. That way you don't get to use any truck on the road that hasn't been paid for.

We have a Secretary of State office in Chelsea, MI that we use to renew our license plates and drivers licenses. It is the only one I have ever been in that is efficient and courteous. That probably means they will do away with it.

If you get a horse depending on where you are you might need a diaper for it. Still remember back when I lives in Charleston SC that the buggy operators had to have something like that on there horses to keep the streets clean

Reminded me of a job at a nuke powerplant. Needed a conduit from point A to point B, 1/2 inch EMT. Got it done went to boss for another job, was told didn't take long enough, puter said 4 days. So for 3 days pretend to run pipe.Turn in that pipe as installed. A week later puter says should be 3/4 inch EMT. Another week to replace 1/2 with 3/4. Week later puter said should be 1/2 inch. talk about cost over run they wanted to reinstall the 1/2 inch.

Buddy of mine is going to have fun dealing with NC DMV tomorrow. His adventure actually began yesterday when he got pulled by a Highway Patrol officer to check the fuel in his F350 work truck (because he has a fuel tank on the back). He just got stopped a couple of months ago by a DMV officer to let him know he had a light out on his trailer, and as far as the "legal" aspect of everything he was OK. This time, when the officer ran the VIN it came back saying the truck was stolen.....in 2004..... Now my buddy has all of his paperwork, showing that the truck is his, so ownership is proven. Thing is because the database he looked in says it"s stolen the officer has it towed.

Buddy made a few calls today and discovered that the truck was in fact stolen in "04, the insurance gave the owner a check for a new truck, the truck was eventually recovered, and had the title reissued to the "new owner" at that time. Problem is that certain paperwork, or something was neglected and the database the officer used never got changed to reflect that the truck was recovered and was now legal again instead of stolen. Now my buddy is on the hook for a $200 plus tow bill, storage on the truck for probably two days (at least another $50 to $100), not to mention the work he missed yesterday being stopped and going through all that crap, plus the crap he"s going to have to go through tomorrow to get everything straightened out.

The sad thing is that I"ve got one of my customers that went through a similar incident with a semi he bought. In his case the whole incident was a bit more complex and it took him nearly a month to get things straightened out. In that time they had to research the theft report, determine that the truck wasn"t stolen anymore, and, in his case, ultimately had to give the truck a new VIN number to make everything legal. I talked to the DMV officer that came out to put the new VIN on the truck and he said that problems like that are a big part of what he does.

In the end it all comes down to our "public servants" not doing the job our tax money is paying them to do...and we"re paying in even more to pay other people to get it straightened out, plus paying for the "side effects" like tow bills, time off work, etc, etc.

Yep and people wonder why people like you and I think the Gov has a problem but now days few see what is right in front of there faces and just keep on believing those in D.C. when every other word is a lie if not every word other one or 2

This country waste more money and resources than a lot of countrys exist on.
One example of vaste in the Army,I vas attached to a combat engineer company, 937 Combat Engineers in Ft. Campbell, Kantucky. They had millions of dollars vorth of equipment and trained personal to operate them. If they had a construction job to do there it vas a civilian contractor doing it vhile the boys vere doing KP or guard duty.

That's called "outsourcing."

And "outsourcing," rather than having governmental units doing the work, is supposed to save money AND stimulate the economy. That's why the Indiana Toll Road was sold...so government wouldn't be in the business of maintaining that road. It's supposed to save tax dollars.

Wait until government starts "outsourcing" police and fire protection to private companies...and you'll have to pay [probably up front, so they can be sure they'll collect] to have fireman put out your burning home, rather than paying for it with your taxes. BIG step away from the "socialism" that's been going on in this country for years, where EVERYBODY pays taxes to provide services when YOUR house burns.
