Just saw where yahoo had an article on the states with the 10 highest property taxes and NJ was #1! Its good to be #1 in some things, but property taxes? Whoa!
 
that piece of land was seperate from the old farm,a good block away,There was no house on it ,just that old building and a little over 12 acres,I have been told that in the days of horse farming that that old building was built there in case of rain there would be a place to get inside being so far from the home farm.
 
our taxes in nj are higher for 1 simple ranch house on a little over an acre than 62 acres in pa with 3 houses and barn and outbuildings
 
Found that to be true in NC. One county, 1150 sq ft, on slab, no garage or outbuilding on 1/3ac. then built on 3/4 ac. w/ full basement and 2 car garage, taxes were lower in the new location one county over. Value more than doubled.
