OT---Alabama Taxes

I saw on the local news where Government employees were wanting an increase in pay but the money wasn't there!
The governor stated that people were supposed to pay taxes on items they bought on line.
Guess they will get their raise???

If it's anything like Murrylin, the gubner will
raise taxes and, more likely, fees, to increase the
money in the state's coffers. Howsomever, the
poolyticians won't have any to give the public
servants a raise, because after they voted
themselves a raise and a few more needed perks,
there is no more money to give....

Hey Jiles.

The answer would seem to be quite obvious.

Reduce the number of state employees and there will
be plenty of money for raises!

And--TO MY KNOWLEDGE-- our governor is not drawing a paycheck????
He ran on the campaign pledge that he would not be payed a salary until Alabama had FULL employment.
He has, however, created thousands of jobs--or so I hear!
If he starts drawing a paycheck?????????

Hmmm. And Wisconsin's governor is stuck with a
surplus and going to cut taxes they say. I wonder
what the difference is?

Local stup gave spouse over 100% raise in less than 3 yrs. Not only is spouse incompetent, is also milking tax payers in wages and very wasteful spending along with destroying state property. Admin buys brand new full blown suburbans to drive while maint. has to keep 25 year old service trucks running. There is talk now that they want to raise our prop tax 25% so they can blow and go some more.

The governor is referring to the Marketplace
Fairness Act that is pending in Congress. If it
passes all online purchases will be taxed.

Actually some states have laws on the books that make it the residents responsibility to report at tax time their on line purchases and pay sales tax at that time. Now we all know that every good citizen is doing just that  !

The feds are reluctant to pass that because there are so many different tax rates from city to city and state to state. The book keeping alone would be a nightmare for some businesses. But a lot of brick and stone businesses are pushing their politicians to pass it because they believe that it will bring customers back into their store. Who knows what they will do with it this time. This isn't the first time that this has been looked at by the US congress.

IL requires that we pay sales tax on items purchased from out of state on the internet.

Yes, the brick and mortar stores have been pushing for internet sales to be taxed for several years. Many taxing authorities are licking their chops at the prospect of collecting ( and SPENDING) more revenue.

My sis lives in MA. Many folks from MA go to NH to shop because NH has no sales tax. MA requires their residents to pay them sales tax on the items they buy in NH! MA revenue people drive through the mall parking lots recording MA license numbers (they can do it electronically because of the sticker on the license plates) and cross reference with tax returns to see if the residents are paying tax on out of state purchases.

You aren't supposed to talk about how successful Gov. Walker has been in Wisc. Not PC old boy! The party line is it's all bad there, workers begging for bread crumbs and all that....
