Several years ago I saw a story in da Farm Show paper aboot some dairy farmers that in the vinter made an ice mound next to the barn and covered vith a tarpaulin and it lasted to late in da summer, to help cool da milch and da cows.

Does anyone remember seaing that article and do anyone still do it?

I read someplace where a small company laid a coil of pipe into a pond and covered pond with tarps. In warmer weather with piping attached to small radiator they were able to use for a air chiller type air conditioner for the office. Worked well till ice melted.

some of the amish in this area (sw wisc) still make ice houses double wall building with sawdust in between it will last till august and then theres the horse powered freezer

I remember reading about a college that filled a dome (like salt is stored in) and used the melt for air conditioning in the summer. Don't remember where.

Company I used to work for had a big cistern that they would make ice in during off peak electric rates and then run the air conditioning off of the ice during the day.
