Maybe over there- but do you ever hear about over here where property owners are not allowed to remove brush/dead wood, and when a fire starts, sometimes the authorities decide to "fight fire with fire"? Seems like as often as not, it doesn't go well!
If I moved out west to a fire prone area, I would take my backhoe and dozer with me. Then I would be an outlaw as I little by little cleaned up the dead stuff.

Good point but they really do fight fire with fire. Make a fire line and burn it towards an outa control fire to remove burnable fuel. They did it the other day in California.

"YEP" it shore wuz that episode.

I never tire of the Andy Griffith show, I have seen probably all the episodes at least twice or once.

In todays PC world they couldn't have a show like it and a lot of people vouldn't understand any way.

Remember when the specialized crews flew all over the world and put out oil well fires with large blasts of explosives that took away the oxygen supply to put out the fire?

I got a real kick out of it when the Hungarians (I think that was where they were from) showed up in the burning oil fields of Kuwait and showed them an easier way. The Hungarians simply put a jet engine near the well head and the exhaust blew away the oxgen. Lots faster and cheaper than the explosives and less chance of anyone getting hurt or killed.
