OT--Leather Cleaner

My favorite Leather recliner is showing some ware. The wear areas are just a lighter shade of dark brown.
I have some matching Fiebings Leather Dye that I used to Dye some new boots.
Since there is definitely body oil and other contaminants, I would like to clean the leather before applying the dye.
Any suggestions?

Mother's makes a cleaner and conditioner for leather, you can get it at O'Reilly's or Auto-Zone and other auto supply places, works very good on leather seats on motorcycles and cars.

I wouldn't think the "conditioner" would be good before dying???

friend of mine tried to dye his motorcycle seat it looked good, but stained his pants . looked like he had been badly frightened !

we use Lexol cleaner before oiling saddles here. Reminds me its time to get out the neatsfoot and start oiling again ~dang~ She's got more saddles than rideable horses. At least I can do it in warmth.
