Letest or Latest Motor?

Not sure if the electric motor is called Letest or Latest Motor. Googled Letest and Latest Motor and came up empty.

The electric furnace I worked on today said it came with a Letest or Latest blower Motor . I've never seen anything like it. It had 240v wired directed to it. There were 3 other wires going to the motor that turned it on. There was like a computerized circuit built inside the end of the motor. Not exacty sure how it works, but the thermostat somehow turns it on.

I would like to learn more about it.
Thanks
George

You first need the schematic diagram for the furnace. It should give you an idea of the functions of the 3 leads.

I expect that by connecting the 3 leads in the proper combinations you get a running motor at different speeds.

Bob,
You may be right. It seems like an expensive over kill. I still don't know much about how they work. I think this motor had a built in delay on off timer built in.

Another strange thing was the relays all had circuit boards that converted the 24 vac control voltage to 22 VDC. Don't have a clue why, but it stands to reason that if the motor is a DC motor, that the controls are also DC. I tend to think, the 24 vac was sent to the motor to turn it on, like the motor control, built in to the motor, acted like a built in relay.

Never worked on too many electric furnaces. This furnace reminded me of how things have advanced in 45 years.
