Gasoline Propane dual fuel carb?

Aparently there are carburetors made to run with gas or LP. Does anyone know what make/model? Impco? Has anyone used them before? I know Allis made a WD45 dual fuel tractor. I'm interested in setting an old MM to run on both without carburation equipment changeover.

Most common place for dual fuel is the Man lift industry. Lots of propane/gas units there. should be able to find a junked man lift.

Ethan,
I saw a 605 MM power unit sell about 25 years ago that had a carb for gasoline and either LP or natural gas. It looked like it may have been a factory setup but I have never been able to find any info in the MM stuff I have. I have an LP carb that mounts on the top of a 2 barrel carb that allows use of either gasoline or LP by shutting off the fuel to one of them or the other. Don't remember the brand.

Onan 30KW generator using inline 6 cyl Ford industrial engine has dual fuel capability.

A long time ago a neighbor west of me ran everything on LP gas. He had all Allis equipment. Had a factory WD45 and D17 on LP. But he had a couple of WC's that was converted. They just had a 100 lb. bottle standing up against the frame. All they had done to put it on LP was to braze the Century gas elbow with the set screw into the air cleaner pipe. Then had a demand regulator. These were hand start. He would start them on gasoline then rev them up and shut the gas off, when they started to flutter turn the LP on. Seemed to run good. Used one to pull hay up into the hay loft. 4 bales at a time. Us boys let it run all day, didn't want to have to crank it. I think summer LP was 8 cents. It was half Butane and half Propane. Sorry kinda got carried away.

MoPower, Our irrigation engines were MM HD-800s. intake was an up draft style if memory serves an Imco 200 is the # on the HD-800 engines. There is NO dual fuel option it is either LP or Natural Gas.
Get hold of an MM/White Dealership and get them to go back in the Books and Cross-Referencefor a dual fuel set up. Maybe a Generator set up or something. All MM tractors I have seen were either LP or Gas or Dsl! No duel Fuels.
Hope this helps.

I used to work for a construction company that had a couple of pickups that were dual fuel. You could run them on gas or propane. The propane carb was an impco brand and the gas carb was the stock 2 barrel that came on the pickup. They worked ok sort of. To get them to run right on propane the timing needed to be advance a couple of degrees. If it was set right for propane it would ping on acceleration running on gas. I assume the tractor would be the same but maybe you could hit a compromise.

Ensign made the system for Allis WD45. This is the one in the parts book for that tractor.

I have one of those on the shelf waiting for the tractors turn in the shop (ie not for sale). Don't know a whole lot about it yet but looks like it shares parts with both LP and Gas Ensign stuff.

Don't think Ensign is real well thought of as a Gas carb and it was way more complicated for LP than it needed to be but Deere and Cockshutt are the only two companies that didn't use Ensign as OEM in the 50's, at least as far as what I have run into.
