How reliable is the Case 4490? What are the differences between it and the 2670 other than cosmetics? I found one in AZ in under 3000 hours, looks good on outside. What are the weak points? Thanks!

a 4490 is a newer version of a 2470 not a 2670, the 90 series other than the hood have electronic 4wh steering controls are the major differences the hp is the same as are other major components, at 3000 hrs if it has been taken care of and not abused you should have 1500-2000 hrs of good service life on the powershift still, many people weighted these tractors down heavy as they were real pulling tractors and then did not shift the powershift down manually before stepping on the clutch and will all the weight and momentum it will do damage to the internals of the powershift, as for differences between a 2470/4490 and a 2670/4690 the 2670/4690 are 220hp verses 175hp, they also have a intercooler and different heads/injectors on the 504 to keep down exhaust temps with the added fuel for the extra ponies, I myself prefer the 2670 over the 2470's as they also have heavier axles/components for the extra power increase as well, also if the steering pivot points have not had proper service they will wear and cause seal leakage due to improper axle shaft alignment this can be avoided easy if you give them a few shots of grease each day of use

neither would be my first choice for an area with limited access to repairs, ps is not fun to work on in the 4x4 models, get something simple with a Cat/Cummins engine and a Fuller manual trans.
