Although I know it isn't as cold here in Central Ks as some of you are, the high here was 11 with 20-30 mph winds. -20 wind chill earlier today. They were calling for -8 here tonight, but have backed off to about 0.
"The Boys" had their heads in the feeder all day. Even the pet Longhorn rooted in. They were on the south side of the shed so they were out of the wind.
It never ceases to amaze me at how much hay a horse will waste. I have two round bale feeders in the winter, and have to go around every day with a pitchfork and through hay on the ground back into the feeder. Otherwise they just tromp it into the ground. The cold doesn't bother them at all as long as they are dry. Each one has a stall inside with plenty of room, but will stand outside in a blizzard. Looming forward to spring for sure.
