cold temps--again

That global warming stuff is really working out for you folks in the northern slice of the country, lots of snow, really cold temps. Here in SC it was 21 this morning, supposed to be cold tonight also. High today barely 40. I know that is warm compared to lots of places.

The good part for me was that the ground is frozen enough so that I didn't have to deal with mud when I fed the calves ground feed. Round bed fed a couple of days ago.

Unseasonably cold in Tx, too. Supposed to have a second cold front come in Sat/Sun. Predicted to have nite time temps in the teens.

I know that would be balmy weather for some, but for down here, its pretty chilly.

I'm sitting here trying to get up enough ambition to go grind feed. It was -12 but now its gone up to only -10. I put it off yesterday because of the snowing and blowing. I hate using equipment when its this cold, seems like things are much more apt to break but the steers got to eat.

While I agree that global warming is not discernible instantly, the effects of climate change are getting stronger. Especially, the weather extremes become far more pronounced:
- a strong wind becomes a storm
- a rain turns into a monsoon
- a cold spell gets an arctic character
- a dry week is now a dry month
- etc.
I fear that these effects have a far greater impact on our livelyhood than a limited rise in AVERAGE temperature.

My 2 cents.

Any comments?

Monday's forecasted high in Minneapolis: -15*F. Probably be a little cooler than that where I am at. Time to start wearing socks, I guess... I'm still not going to let the air out of my beach ball.

It's -43F here in Northeastern Ontario right now. Yesterday's low was -47.7F, according to Environment Canada. (Earlton, Ontario) My tractor wouldn't start after the 1500 watt recirculating heater was plugged in for 4 hours, so I fed with my truck, which has been plugged in all week. This morning I found frost along the baseboard inside my house.

-16F when I got up, but warmed all the way up to -13F now. Guess I better read Al Bore's book to get warm. I'll wait for a day or so to cut wood, south-central Michigan.

Weather network says it's -13 with a wind chill of -22, which is way out of the ordinary here. Normally only gets to about 0 here.

Climate change has been going on since God created earth. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out. Read your Bible if for no other reason then for the history.

somewhere around-below zero here with lots of snow
(I don't have an outside thermometer...too depressing :) )
just like those disaster movies, inside doorknobs
on outside walls have frost on them.
had to fire up an extra heater in my cold kitchen, ice was getting thick on the sliding glass door, afraid it would let go
Gonna be a long winter

Thanks for your reply, Lazy WP. You are right that we should live close(r) to what the Bible says.
There are specific promises in the Bible, esp. in the Old Testament, saying that we should not worry about the future, not even about our physical wellbeing.
However, there are also outlooks in Matthew 24, Marc 13, and Luke 21, which fill me with fear. I feel that these prophecies are now being fulfilled.

-20 C (-4F) at 5:00 am today. Best part: last nights wind is gone. As is normal for the operation here we are getting lambs over the last ten days with varying degrees of success. Neighbour maintains that if I were getting lambs in July it would snow.

I am glad that a lot of folks are enjoying this cool weather with me. It is a comfortable minus 12 degrees here now. I had a minor flood emergency in the house at 4am when the washing machine hose broke but we took care that in a few minutes.
At least it is warm in the house and the cows are fed and watered. Did the feeding yesterday because I wanted to avoid starting tractors in sub zero weather.
Good luck to all and stay warm.

-13F when I got up... all the way up to 0 now, but a windchill of -14. I'm hoping this means an early spring...

It was 18 here in Oconee this morning. Up to 24 at 10 o'clock. Talking about 12 or 13 Monday and Tuesday.

-5 in CNY at 8:30 am. Since the car wouldn't start SWMBO had to drive her 32 yr old uninspected Dodge to work this morning. I'll deal with car Saturday since 'supposed' to get to a balmy 20 above.

Yep had a friend yesterday ask if she could borrow some global warming from some place. Got down close to zero last night and up now to just under 20 degrees. Have another winter storm warning for Saturday night into Sunday calling for up to 8 inches of snow last I heard

It was 12 degrees at 6:00 AM according to the weather station here in the NW corner of the Tennessee. Weather guessers are claiming single digit highs for Monday. I can only imagine all the frozen pipes and gelled diesels here in the south with temps like that.
