OT Washer suggestions

Looking for new front load washer . Had a Kenmore HE2 , quite a few issues with it . 7 years old ,leaking water and oil from under it now .

We replaced our 25 year old Hot point with a GE that lasted 3 years-needed over $400 of repairs! We now have a Roper (Amana) with an uber extended warranty!

I've been very impressed with my LG appliances and will be buying their washer when my old one poops out.

I bought a front load Frigidaire in 2001 or 2 based on consumer reports calling it the best buy.I was very happy with it and when the timer went out I bought an LG because fixing was too much of the price of a new one.A local store has a deal where the are able to get the ones that don't pass inspection by the Canadian importer. They sell at a discount after they have been refurbished and tested with a warranty .It does a really good job.The salesman told me Bosch makes some products in the US,LG in Korea and pretty well everything else is made in China.I don't know if this is true.

So was the Amana washer we got a few months back.
Had a problem registering it on line, called the 800 number, ended up talking to a Whirlpool represenataive.

Truthfully any of the washers you buy today are not going to be as good as they used to be. We have a set that is just over 2 years old. The wife gave big money for them and so far they have lasted. I would not do it again though.

I would buy a mid priced one that is a top load and had good reviews from people. It would have to be a model that was at least a few years old so your feedback was not all new customers. Then buy the best warranty that was not SKY high. Then plan on replacing them right at the end of the extended warranty and go do it again.

Buy a Speed Queen!! A plain, basic machine that gets Dirty clothes clean........no bells, whistles or electronic motherboards.

Can't help you on front loaders. What I can tell you is that about 4 years ago maytag, kenmore, whirlpool and maybe a few others are owned by same company, have similiar parts. In my opinion they are junk. My whirlpool top loader only lasted 2 years before it lost a bearing in tranny, cost too much to repair.

We replaced it with a GE top loader and very happy. Also bought it from Lowes with extended waranty. Glad we did, because Lowes paid us what we paid for the whirlpool washer.

We don't like front loaders for 2 reasons. They stink and you have to bend over too much to use them. At my age if I bend over I may not get up.

Lesson learned, get extended waranty. Lowes was only $99 for 5 years and Sears is like $159 or more, can't remember exact amount. Shop around, get extended, they don't last like they use to.

We've had front loaders since 1955 when we bought a Bendix. We have a Kenmore now and it's 6 years old. You need to keep the door open so the interior will dry. No mildew or smell and the laundry room is near the kitchen. Hal

We had a Bendix brand front loader as a kid. Couldn't wait for the new top loads. Have had a top load ever since and usually Sears or the mother Whirlpool. Last 20 years or so. Going on 8 as I recall on the current unit.

We've had good luck with our Frigidaire Affinity - Not the most expensive model but it's been trouble free for the last 8 years and my wife washes a lot of clothes.

Steer clear of Lowes/Home Depot models, they put lower quality parts in them to get the lower price.
