As a town volunteer I received notification of an offer that the town's propane supplier made. It was a pretty significant reduction from what I pay. I am not one to jump around a lot, and I have never had a problem with the company that I have had since before they bought out the local company, so I thought I would call them and see if I could get a better price. I called and explained the situation, and they called back after a few hours with a price of $3.10/gal. Now I know that this is still very high, but it is pretty good for here in NH right now, where we also have the highest electrical rates in the country. I know that many would say that I have been getting cheated for years, and perhaps I have for the last few, but I know from having run my own business for 25 years, that contrary to the beliefs of many, that businesses have to pay their bills before they make a profit. Many businesses don't make a profit, don't pay bills, don't stay open. So I want to just pass on that it doesn't hurt to ask for a better price. Oh, and the price today would have been $4.13.

One of the propane suppliers was that way around here for years.
50 cents to a dollar higher all the time unless you called with a
competitors price quote. Finally caught up to them, cause you do
not see there trucks in the area anymore. Theres a difference
between profit and price gouging.

Then there are the ones that you know are just flat out lying to you.
We got our Blue Cross cards in the mail Saturday,so the wife called the agent yesterday that we had our old insurance with and told him we were cancelling. The lying S.O.B. started right in with some BS about "why didn't you call me first? I could have gotten you" this credit and that credit and gotten your premium down to $800 and some odd change a year! Yea right!
When I called the actual company to tell them not to bill the bank anymore for the auto payment out of my checking account, they told me that an add on policy that he'd told me was disability was actually a whole life life insurance policy.

Ohio was that high up until last year and this.
A few months ago I paid $ 1.69 gal. All the new oil production going on has propane prices at the lowest in at least 10 years.

If there is a lower form of life than a insurance salesman, I don't know what it would be. I call my insurance guy my insurance weasel. That's how much I trust him....

Tow truck driver.

I understand.....I work for a local mom and pop oil
and propane company here in Southern NH. Price is
all determined by usage.

Price matching is pretty common. There are a few
bandits around that are looking to break into the
game.....my company has been around since '57. Solid
and local. ;)

It seems at times Honesty is the best policy...until someone finds out about it lol....then things arent so honest anymore...
