I have been getting parts for the Desa manufactured space heaters. From Space Heater Parts in northern Indiana. Good quality parts for a very reasonable price.

All are basically an air pump with a spark plug igniter with a fan. Common brand names, Knipco,JD,Master, and others.

Pretty easy to work on. Usually just need an air gauge to set the air pressure, clean everything up, an replace the filters.

Sounds good but also sounds like the Knipco they have parts for are too new for my heaters, Made by Koring(?). Also where would a person find directions to repair them. I have 2 of the 90,000 Knipco heaters that are around 35 years old.

must be out of the guys garage, I live a couple miles from there and have never heard of this place.

This might help, you do need a pressure gauge that goes down to 2-3 lbs. and up a few pounds.

I have a R30 Reddy that will only keep burning if I take the top cover off. Trouble shoot guide says 90% of time it is a bad nozzle. I have 5 of these things and never had to replace a nozzle yet. Should have a new one in mail tomorrow.. We will see . Ever had that problem? I have a gauge and pressure is correct. Happy New Years!!

Leroy I just fixed a Knipco 90,000 heater yesterday. The filter kit you would need is a HA3018 or new number PP215 cost $7.50. The pressure should be set at 4 PSI for the 90K model F110D unit.

Other than the air pressure the 90k is the same unit as the newer 100 or 110 units. There are only two common air pump housings in use. The small round type and the larger square type. Then you just have the difference air pressures and nozzles size to make the different model BTU ratings.

Here is a complete Tech manual link for most of the portable heaters made/sold in the US. It is a 289 page PDF file. It lists the different models and brands. It has trouble shooting and parts break downs.

I have ran into that before too. The issue is the nozzle cone is correct when the air flow from the fan does not blow it flatter. Then when you put the cover on the air makes the cone not be in the igniter area and it will not stay lit.

I usually can clean the nozzle an completely clean the fuel tank, fuel filter, and check the air pump vanes out too. One of the vanes can be sticking and you will have the pressure but not the correct air flow at the nozzle. Also check the air intake hole in the air pump cover. Right behind the foam filter. If the filter has been left off then I have issue with mud dobbers plugging the hole. Had two just this week with that issue.

This seems to be an issue on heaters that run diesel fuel more than K-1. I wonder if the diesel wears the nozzle out faster??? Also sometime the nozzle is damaged by someone cleaning it with a wire. Most of them are just brass so the hole can be ruined with a wire/pick real easily.

Thank you for the information. Dang things are simple but can be fussy at times. I do use kerosene from the co-op. Years ago we could not get kerosene so used diesel with 10-15% gas.

Thanks for both links. I've been keeping my 'Franken Heaters" going for years by swapping out parts from several donors to the running ones. It's nice to now know somewhere to get new parts, as well as to have a manual to give actual specs -vs- just making an educated guess and getting lucky enough for everything to work.

Back before Dad bought the second of these 90,000 Knipco heaters was going to get one of the 30,000 Ready heaters as that would have been big enough for the area he planned on using it in. First would not keep running, dealer took it back and replaced, same thing, then Dad decided to go with the 90,000 like I had bought the year before and just had minor problems over the years. Never had diesel fuel on the farm and always used kerosine. My repairman had to quit 2 years ago in his 80's after heart bypass.

I have an old Ford space heater that acts the same way. It will run for a while with the cover on but eventually the flame will go out and if I pull the cover off the flame comes right back. Let us know how you make out, I'd love to keep the one I have going and a new nozzle might be just the thing.

Received my "new old stock" nozzle today and installed it.
Heater works , yippee for me.
Thank you JD Seller for perfect information.
