I recently found an allis chalmers wc for sale for $500 was wondering if anybody had information on these and if I should beware of an asking price of $500 in pictures the tractore looks in good shape

They are not sold for much money, usually. They seem to have a lower street value than other tractors of similar size and vintage. One possible reason is difficulty of getting on the seat, also lack of hydraulics. They are useful for some things, just like anything else they have their good and bad points.

WCs are good old pulling tractors with their 201 cu in 4" X 4" square engine. Everything holds up well and parts are relatively easy to get. PTO was a $100 option so many do not have a PTO. Should be able to find one, though. Hydraulics are non-existent so there's virtually no easy way to attach a 3 point hitch. It'll pull two 14" plows all day long on about 15 gallons of gas which is what the tank holds. Hand brakes. Foot clutch. For $4-500 more you could get a WD with live power hyd ,pto, and a hyd lift that's easy to convert to 3 pt.

Bill pretty well nailed it. Also, the early ones (unstyled or "flat top") didn't have electric start. Another thing to keep an eye on is the rims. A lot of them had fluid in them and over the years can be pretty rusted. Replacements can be found, but are not cheap. They did make something like 170 thousand of them, so used parts are easy to come by. The engine is the same basic engine as the later WD and WD45, so all the rotating parts can be found new. Great little tractors, but on any modern hobby farm, they are very limited in function. Drawbar, PTO, and belt power is all you've got.

What everybody has said before is correct. I just wanted to add that the very nice original flat tops are hard to come by and have been bringing in the $2500-$3000 range due to the fact that most were altered, abused or parked in the weeds 50 years ago.

If you want something to run in parades and give hay rides thats not a bad price if it is ready to go. But if you want something to use as a working tractor, you couldn't give it to me.

ok thank you I was wondering granddad had a model b on the farm which is what I was looking for the family sold it at his estate sale for $550 with sickle bar mower before I could get a chance to buy it. I don't know very much about the wc. im not looking for a tractor to farm with just one to tinker with basically.
