i was watching fronter alaska last nite [ they had a marathon, in the episode where they moved that old cabin by setting it on a trailer pulled by a old john deere tractor what was the tractor? it looked bigger than a M had what was probably a add on wide front, [ its patina didnt really match the tractors] and looked to have a foot clutch on it

thanks, that was driving me nuts as i couldnt recognize the thing the camera to me was making it apear much bigger, but i knew it had to be a letter series tractor

Hi
Now you got something going here with what was the Deere model.

I have been wondering what the front wheel assist loader tractor Otto has is. Can never seem to get a good view of it! I kinda think it"s fiat/universal or a white from those kinda cross brand ones they had like 12 or 13 series if those are the right numbers?
Regards Robert

I think it's an Allis Chalmers. One of the Fiat models built in Romania. Something like a 5040 or 5050,something like that.

Dad had a AC 5040 Otto's looks just like it but only his has MFWD.I didn't know it was offered on those ? I guess it was alright, but it was no John Deere ! Which is what my uncle had and I pretty much grew up on.

and ..... A Christmas Story
when Ralphie was watching the parade, Santa's float was being pulled by a Farmall ???.

This movie gets omitted when guys try to list the movies which show tractors.

MT wide.Otto also has an 8N Ford that he pulls a tedderwith. He says it their "fishing tractor",as they use it to haul fishnets around.I agree on the 5050/5040 AC ,he has at least one other AC that he also uses.BTW,I watched and finished that series last week.Fascinating!

I've got the Oliver version. A little higher quality unit built in Italy instead of Romania.

Hi Guys thanks for the guesses.
The Italian one is a fiat and the Romanian one is a copy of the fiat, minus the quality of fiat engineering.
In the U.K the Romanian was sold as UTB Or commonly known as Universal Tractors. In Canada or U.S.A I have seen them as Universal or long Tractors, Long seemed to be a company that brought tractors painted them blue and stuffed their stickers on it.
They badge engineered Zetor 8011 crystal type tractors also plus i believe I saw a David Brown advertised with their name on.
The universal tractors had lots of problems with poor castings and bolts that wouldn't stay tight in main housings.

There are NO DB Longs. Other label DBs are Oliver, Case, Case-IH, and Ferguson. There were also a bunch of skid units sold for custom machinery.
