The youngest and his wife came over first thing. So we got to see them open all their gifts. The rest showed up around lunch an we all eat together. They split up to hit the rest of the relation in the afternoon.

We kept it kind of laid back for the wife an all.

It went well. Everyone seemed happy and no disagreements on much of anything either.

My side is going to get together this weekend. With my brothers and sisters having their own families an all now we just do ours later or earlier which ever works out.

Just winding down now! Up at 7:30 AM with our two adult at home kids (23 & 26). Lots of useful gifts-books,clothes, floormats for my truck and my daughter (a NASCAR fan) got me and her tickets to the COKE 600 in May!!! Went to the mother-in-law's for lunch/gift swap (ate way too much)! Came home, dropped off stuff, packed up again and went through the woods (literally-one and a quarter miles)to my older sister's for my family get together! We do a Chinese Christmas where you pick a number, open and keep or discard get something else! I got a 12 pack of Miller Lite! Back to work tomorrow like it never happened, but it was a good day! Merry Christmas to all!!

Marilyn and I pretty much had the day to ourselves. Son and family were here for an hour or so and later on my dad and stepmom stopped for a half hour.

This weekend we go to Marilyn's side of the family. She's one of fifteen so we rent the town fire hall for the get together. There's something like 35 grandkids and I don't know how many great grandkids, plus Marilyn's brothers and sisters and spouses. We make quite a racket. LOL Any new boyfriend or girlfriend of one of the grandkids is a little overwhelmed to say the least. The last get together will be Jan 11th so it isn't over for us yet. Jim

Jim,
My mom was #14 of 15 children. I know what you mean about family get togethers. They use to rent a hall every Christmas evening but there was too many families in later years so we do it in January. My one Uncle who was never married pays for everything.

Hope you all had a merry Christmas. The wife always fixes breakfast. The two daughters and husbands, with grand kids, along with wife's sister show up. after breakfast we open presents. Then most leave until the evening dinner. My wife fixes that also. They are gone now, except one grand daughter stayed overnight. Time for the wife to rest. stan

Had all of the kids together for dinner, minus two G-daughters who have flown the coop and are now on their own because their 16 and 20 year old azzes don't need anyone in the family. SWMBO has been cleaning and cooking for a week, the whole shindig lasted three hours- dinner, and unwrappping gifts. We had a wonderful time- no arguements, good food and a lot of laughs and merriment. There was not much food left, the kids actually did the dishes without being asked, and the whole bunch trooped out to other commitments before six. Nice way to end the day....

Today was an adventure here, got a call at 1:30 am, oldest daughter going into labor with her 3rd child. Wife went over to baby sit the other two, snowing like crazy, I got up to plow about 5:30, before daylight and any traffic, got done at 7:30. Built a good fire in the stove and made coffee and breakfast all alone. Wife called and we have a new grand daughter born about 4:30 am. We had dinner planned for around 1:00pm. Put the ham in the over around 9 and the wife shows up with the two kids about 10, rest show up about noon, two sons, youngest daughter and two more grandkids. Son in law stopped in on his way home from the hospital late afternoon for a quick meal, he had to go home to milk cows, so every one made it except oldest daughter and new baby. On a very sad note, my other Son in law died of cancer last April, he was missed very much today, he fought very hard, he did not want to leave our family, he was only 31 years old, a very nice young man. I don't know how but both of my daughters found very nice men for husbands, but this one just could not stay with us. RIP Jon. Hope every one had a great day, it was a memorable day here for sure!!

This year our family Christmas was scheduled for next Sunday, but 3 families were going to come here today, as well. Flu changed the plan for one son and us but we still had a good time. Tomorrow our Army dau and SIL are coming from Ft. Bragg, NC, so next Sunday should be great. Six kids, 5 inlaws, 12 GK makes a houseful.
