stopping rust

We give everything a good bath in the spring and soak em down with a mixture of atf and wd40, maybe hit em again in the fall, helps a lot.

If it is out of the sunshine (location on vehicle) POR-15 will do wonders to lock up the non flakey rust, and make it do what you want. Jim

I spray mine twice a year with oil.I also spray oil inside doors and pockets of cab. Some of the pockets I have to drill hole to get spray tool onto the pocket.

14W40 Rotella warmed up on an oil filled heater and sprayed in a Binks #7 @ 100psi on inside and outside of frame rails and underside of cab each fall.

I use boiled linseed oil and used tranny fluid.. Seems to work well.. 50/50 mix sprayed on and in with a "Schutz Gun" for rustproofing after body work has been done..

Try "Naval Jelly". US Navy uses it on their ships and equipment (hence the name) and works well. Something about it is that once you do the cleansing, the metal is somewhat resistant to rust. So that and a good rust inhibitor primer and top coat and you should be good to go.

Here is one example: Doors will rust at the bottom where the outer skin laps over the inner skin and they put a strip of sealer over it and then paint. The paint cracks, then the sealer, then moisture is in there and protected by the paint that is still intact. I watch for it, and when I find it I drag a screwdriver along the top of the seam to pull off the loose paint and rust. I then give it a good application of WD-40 to get down in and displace the moisture. I let that penetrate for a day or so then spray aerosol chain lube for protection. The chain lube comes out thin then sets up. I believe that fluid film would work to. This has been very effective for me.
