Early 1940's photos

These sure bring back memories for me I was born 1938 and
life was like that till after the war 1945. We lived on the farm in
Loomis, CA north of Sacto. Mother had a 35 Dodge with the
full Ram on the hood. Grampa had 38 Plymouth and 35
International 1 1/2 ton truck we kids loved to ride in the back of
the old truck sometimes with 3 ton of hay on it and other times
loaded high with cull plumbs that would throw at signs and
mail boxes on the way home.

Does everyone notice there just arent any overweight people on any pics like now you watch and see people who sure are getting their share and more.

When I was a kid growing up during WW2, almost all
the neighbor farmers, that had grain trucks, had pre
war '35 thru '39 Ford 11/2 tons. I can still here
those flat heads being revved up! Pict. #5

I didn't grow up in that time period but I've heard a lot of stories from my Mom, Dad (he died in 12/1989 job accident) I now have the Ford 850 we used to work together, also, heard stories from other relatives, have 2 uncles that fought in WWII both in the Navy, one is still alive in Clifton, TX, I do have a desk from that era just like the ones in photo #68, I have a lot of respect for the people that crew up in that era it seems they had MORE respect in that time than people do these days. I enjoyed the pictures, I'm gonna forward the web page to my Mom.

No limp-wristed, characterless, namby-pamby, wimps in those photos. I believe God Almighty was getting us ready for WWII. (The Big One). Thank you for the link and Merry Christmas to all. :)>))

mj-thanks for great photos, film still gives a better picture than digital in my opinion. Pic 32 has the name of the town painted on the building roof-could be for aircraft navigation purposes-common at the time. Thanks again!

I was born in 1933 so I remember those times very well. I would have been about the age of those school kids in Texas. Times were tough back then but we still enjoyed our life. Looks like those black folks had it a lot worse that the rest of us.
