Ken,on 3/3/2013,you replied to RMOMN re: gear replacement on your 720 gas.Am assuming 520 gas is the same due to your description of what to do and what I see and read in service manual. The only part I don't get is where you drilled a hole in that freeze plug and pulled it.Why?? I havn't done mine yet but bought the 2 nylon gears(they are the same as yours)and a new freeze plug. When Istuff that whole shaft etc. back into the housing, what holds that top gear where the drive shaft hooks into in place??Can you get to it from freeze plug hole??Any info you can provide me would be great as I have never been inside a governor before.

It appears to me that the tach drive gear on governor shaft could changed through hole that expansion plug fits IF inner brg race can be easily removed from the shaft.

You'll have to pull the governor shaft out of the housing by the flywheel side. It's not too bad of a job, but getting the bearing race off and reinstalled in the correct position is very important.
I've got a 630 that needs to have the same thing done.
