Do you believe in ghost

Had to think about this for a few hours making sure I wanted to admit to it but here goes....

My house sits in the middle of a old cow pasture. The closest road before this area was subdivided and my road was put in (late 70's) would have been about a mile away.
So its not like this area has a past unless we go way back in time before roads and longer than anyone can remember.

Over the years my wife and kids have mentioned seeing or hearing something and I just blew it off as your crazy because I have never seen anything.

Well tonight me and my grandson are here alone. I am sitting in the recliner playing on the lap top and watching TV. My 2 yr old grandson is on the living room floor playing with toys.

When all of a sudden my grandson stands up; points; and says "Who's That"
I quickly turn and see what looked to be a 7 to 10 yr old boy dressed in modern clothing standing not 3 feet from me in the hall entrance.
He turns and starts walking down the hall.
I jump up and turn the corner just in time to watch him walk straight threw a solid wall.

Yes I went down the hall and looked in the bedroom but could find nothing.
And no I have not been drinking although I might need one or two to get to sleep tonight.

I might have even been able to blow it off as crazy if I was the only one that seen him; but for a 2 year old to point and ask who is that made me a believer.

I didn't believe in ghosts for many years. My oldest son is now 28 and had some developmental problems as a child that he has now grown out of.He was born a month after my grandfather past away.We fixed up the old farmhouse and moved in when my son was a few months old. When my son was about 6 years old he saw a picture of my grandfather in a suit. There weren't many pictures of him and none on display in the house. My son said "I know him thats the green man".When we asked what he meant he said that a man in green chlothes used to come into his room at night sometimes to check on him and make sure he was alright. The kicker here is that my grandfather always wore green BigB brand workpants and shirts except to go to church.I was very close to him and after my father died I felt like every time I got into my pickup he was riding along. This lasted for about 5 years.I never saw anything just felt sure he was riding along with me.

Was your house built new, or had it been there for a while when you moved in? If the house was new when you moved in, this is somewhat unusual, however if someone lived there previously, then you may want to talk to others in the area and get the history of the house. I personally do not believe in ghosts, but I believe that people do see things where someone has died or been killed, etc. I realize that statement sounds contradictory, but I don't believe that ghosts actually exist, but there are forces in existence that can cause us to see things if we open our minds to such.

My house is a new build. I am the only one to ever live in it.
In fact every house within a mile diameter of me was built after the late 1970's because before then this was nothing but cow pasture and was in the same family for generations. The old man that sold it did so when he retired in the late 70's. I know his dad owned all this before him. In fact his kids still own about 1000 acres my property backs up to.
I bought this piece and have lived here since 1980 about 2 years after this pasture was turned into a 5 acre lot subdivision. There was maybe 2 houses in this whole 750 acre subdivision that was built before mine.

You would have to go back to Indians to find any possibility of young kids dying or being killed anywhere close to me.

Friend of mine told me a story like that once and he moved out of the apartment that it happened in . Kids and animals can see things we don't or can't

Never actually seen any ghosts myself. That said, when I was living along in the house I grew up in/my Great Grandma"s old house, there were times I "FELT" something odd/spooky and would turn every light in the house on before I felt comfortable.....and I"m NOT easily spooked. A couple of years later my parents rented the house to several different people. One lady told of a lady appearing across from her at the table one night. She described my Great Grandma Tilley to a T, down to the outfit she was known to wear most of the time. She then verified her ID when Mom showed her a pic of Great Grandma wearing the outfit. The next couple reported doors opening and closing (((((movements that couldn"t happen naturally because the house "leaned" the other way and the movements were against gravity)))) as well as objects being moved from room to room.

Then my Grandma always told the tale of the old man that sat beside her in her porch swing and talked to her one night. Thing is Grandma wasn"t the kind that you"d ever think would believe in ghosts.

In the end I believe there are things going on that none of us will ever understand. Call them/it ghosts, spirits, or whatever you will, I think there is something out there whether I"ve personally seen anything or not.....

You can say bs all you want! I swear when i lived at home with mom and dad in the farm house one evening want over to the house during milking grab a can of pop.open it set it on the chest freezer and it fell over as i was putting on my shoes doors were all shut it just tipped over and spilled! Explain that one! And then when i was a little kid i was sitting in the tub the light went out jumped out hit the switch hopped back in.the.tub did it again so i turned it back on this time i watched the.switch go down all by itself three times the light went out! Wierd! Something is out thier!

No, I don't believe in ghosts. Nobody has ever come up with concrete evidence that the spirits of the dead walk among us.

That said, I'll go so far as to say there are phenomena that aren't easily explained using the knowledge we currently have. Which is not to say they won't be explained in the future. And I'm willing to confess it would have scared the beejeezus out of me to experience what you did.

If there's something strange
in your neighborhood
Who ya gonna call?
GHOSTBUSTERS

Too funny, it popped in my head! lol

almost 20 years ago my twin brother was killed by a drunk driver. About that time another brother and I restored a commercial riding mower and I bought it home on saturday. On Monday I got off work at 6:30 A.M. my wife went to work, I went to sleep. the mower was sitting outside the back of the garage. I had a dream that my brother came to look at the mower and check it out. I woke up around 10 A.M to the sound of the mower running. I went out to see, no one around, the mower running. somehow the mower started itself between 6:30 am and 10am, key switch on, dog never made a sound always barked at visitors but never at my brother, in the next 3 years before retiring the mower, it never started itself again.

Not that uncommon here, some in the family see them some don't. Life after death has a lot of meanings, ghost could be.

I lived with two in Dallas. Lady in a pink robe and an old man in a rocking chair. Told my wife she was nuts for believing in ghost. Until I met the lady coming down the hall. She only got angry. When my wife's aunt came over. Couldn't blame her. She once threw a cup at the aunt. Missed. Told her to aim better next time.

Never saw the old man but my wife did all the time. I know if you sat in the spot where he was. It got real cold.

They never bothered anything and became part of the family.

I don't believe in ghosts but I sure am scared of them. Seriously though, and trying to not come off sounding like a wise a$$, I was curious as to whether this appeared to be as solid as you or me or sort of semi-transparent like as depicted in the movies? Do you remember if you heard any foot steps as it walked away?
I read an article once about tachiphyscia (don't know if I spelled that right or if it is a true word), where people report time seems to slow down in extreme crisis, that the mind actually "speeds up" momentarily. It said that this doesn't actually happen but later the mind firmly remembers it as so. I don't agree with this theory because several times in my life it happened to me but that's another story.

I think I told this before, the day my DAD died, his good buddy Pauly said his door bell rang. It hasn't worked in years.

My buddy who lives in NM believes that the horses can sense them. He thinks the ghosts travel through an area.

I do not know.

Don't know that I'd call them ghosts but there are spirits that roam the earth along side us. That's a biblical fact.

Hate to get branded as a nut,,but been called that before. I believe in them , seem them and channeled many of them . Given the right setting and moment I am pretty open to them it seems . We were at mom n dads sat for Christmas. Lot of family were there . My grandpa who"s been gone for 12 years decided to make a visit through me . Orney and opinionated as ever. Pretty emotional when it does happen. My Aunt owns "Fate Magazine" . Guess lot in our family are pretty receptive to spirits.

A professor at Texas A& University was giving a lecture of the
supernatural.

To get a feel for his audience, he asks, "How many people here believe in ghosts?"

About 90 students raise their hands.

"Well, that's a good start.

Out of those of you who believe in ghosts, do any of you think you have seen a ghost?"

About 40 students raise their hands.

"That's really good. I'm really glad you take this seriously.

Has anyone here ever talked to a ghost?"

About 15 students raise their hand.

"Has anyone here ever touched a ghost?"
3 students raise their hands.

"That's fantastic.

Now let me ask you one question further -- have any of you ever made love to a ghost?"

Way in the back, Bubba raises his hand.
The professor takes off his glasses, and says "Son, all the years I've been giving this lecture, no one has ever claimed to have made love to a ghost.

You've got to come up here and tell us about your experience."

The big redneck student replied with a nod and a grin, and began to make his way up to the podium. When he reached the front of the room, the professor asks, "So, Bubba, tell us what it's like to have s*x with a ghost?"

Bubba replied, "Shoot! From way back thar I thought you said
"Goats."

I believe in them.
My Father was in I.C.U. here locally, my sister was in I.C.U. in another state with my Mother beside her. (parents divorced) While talking to Mom I told her Dad had passed and she asked what time. I told and she informed me about sisters bed raiseing and lowering on it's own at about that time. We figured it was Dad stopping in to say HI.
For me, I keep my Grandfather's chair that he drank his morning coffee in, in front of a window just as he did so should he stop by he can look out and see whats going on just as he did when he was alive.
When we moved into this 170 yr old farm house I asked a couple differant people that I believe to be Sensatives to come over and see what they felt. They both said 'nothing bad here' on the property however that area, pointing to a spot just off the propery, I would stay away from. They were over at seperate times and don't know each other.

they come to me in dreams especially when I am sik ,,i dunno, neighbors long gone ,deceased uncles and aunts , and the maternal grandparents I never knew only from pictures,..all sorts of short cameo and or main long roles ..won't even think about them at all previously while awake .. i recall a dream ridin along with granpa in his car ,smellin dust, air blowin, and him tellin stories that drifted into murmers as i woke myself froma spectacular dream , i tried to go back to sleep so i could visit some more.. but i lost him ,.a recurring dream has me workin with thresher crew ,and my young pretty grandmother with hair in bun , she hands me a piece of pie with a wonderful blush smile that thrills me deep inside / , i jolt myself awake when i realize my indecent feelin with grandma catherine ... .. lost a neighbor this fall after heart operation , ,,couple days after operation , i woke at quarter to 3 in morning ,from a dream ,.....of passin larry in a strw hat ,walikin his dawg, giving me his hawaian love fingers wave as he slowly walked along , but ,,.this time he was skipin ,and smiling big , ,,usually i would pass him in 4th hi with the 430 case ,rollin on to the next job,, this time i was sittin still , and he passed me skippin along at 26 mph.. the dream shook me to wake .. and i marked the time, and told my sara over coffee my dream ,,. ,.next afternoon , i asked his son in law , how larry was doing ,,. he said WE NEARLY LOST HIM EARLY THIS MORNING ,BUT HE SEEMS TO BE COMIN AROUND,,not able to have visitors yet because infection seems to be a problem ,,.he hung on a couple more weeks , with very little change ,then passed in his sleep...

Not trying to sound like a jerk, and I don't know your age. Is your health okay? Hallucinations are a common symptom with alzheimers. My mom is having them. she can still dress, bathe, and cook somewhat and is otherwise quite rational. She called me over one night and pointed out teens in the garden. Even went out with me when I tried to show her they weren't there (they were gone then). I never seen anyone see things like that before. Doctor says its quite common with Alz/dementia

Cats do live in a world of their own. Ever see a cat seem to look at something that's not there? Where did cats come from, anyway?

I'm sure some can see em and some can't, I can and have no fear, never had a bad experience, I think you have to be open to them to see anything. I built this house 35 years ago and have never seen anything here. I have way too many stories than I could start with on here. Like it or not there out there.

"Tachypsychia". A very real sensation usually triggered by a traumatic event or drugs. Actually, a traumatic event will trigger the release of certain hormones and drugs within the body. Dopamine, adrenalin, etc. I only experienced it once. On a dark and stormy night. Power turbine blade separated from the wheel and blew out of the side of the engine causing instantaneous explosion and shutdown of #1 engine. Huge white flash out the left side. It is amazing how many things went through my mind and how I seemed to have plenty of time to reason and make decisions. Training for just such happenings helps a lot. My mind screened at least 40 years of compiled information in about 2 seconds. Although one of the girls I fly with has been known to scream: "Your mind is full of more useless BS than anyone I've ever known." No one has ever disputed this as far as I know. (;>))

Well for all of you that sah you don't believe in ghosts must be non religious. I seem to remember a saying that went... "father, son and holy ghost"

So if you are religious you must believe in ghosts.

Just having a little fun. hope nobody gets too ruffled by my post.

Personally never seen a ghost. but have been in more than one situation where I have felt like I have been being watched when I know that I am alone.

Fwiw. I am religious.

Rick

interestin ,,that's kinda what 2nd son willy said when he turned over the DC Case ,.. at the safe age of 11 , he turned over the DC , when he could not downshift into 3rd gear on a steep hill and went thru a stop sign,, he said he was layin on ground next to tractor and could see the wheel slowly coming over as the tractor flipped ,,he quikly roled over and had to pull his shirttail out from under the tire ,//// 15 yrs later,,, same damhill ..// thecombine i was in clipped a utility pole .. seemed like slow motion to me.. story is in archives of combine forum under //// stupid and lived to tell about it ..

I have no opinion myself, but my brother and sis-n-law, who are both "no-drama" people, became convinced that "ghosts", for lack of a better word, are among us. A few years after my father's death (he died in his bed at home), my mother had a stroke and went into assisted living. My brother and SIL moved into the parents' house. There was an ongoing succession of mysterious events--things moving, opening, closing, falling, etc.---until my mother died. Nothing since. Brother and SIL would discuss this very matter-of-factly, and they didn't care if you believed it or not. Don't know if I believe it either, but I believe that they believed.

Several years ago, I worked with a friend that was very religious. He was a serious type person and never carried on BS or nonsense at least in my presence.
He told me about an occurrence, which I questioned, and he agreed to show me.
A few days later, he came into work with a small envelope and removed a photo.
I could not believe what I saw.
He stated that he and his family were in another country, attending a Church gathering, and that most of the people there were in deep prayer.
His wife had took pictures toward the end of the prayer gathering along with all the other pictures of their trip.
When they got home, he took the film to be developed and they called when they were ready.
He went in to get the film and the lady that waited on him, said that the film developer wanted to talk to him.
He agreed and the developer pointed out one particular photo where there was a man standing behind a group of people. His feet appeared to be above floor, his arms were outstretched and he was dressed in a robe.
Although this was colored film this figure was a faint white.
The developer asked if he could explain this figure and he couldn't because he was as surprised as he was.
My friend was very protective of this photo and wouldn't even let he hold it!

I believe it goes deeper than memory recall. A lifetime ago when I was in college I used to read a newspaper called Autoweek (before it turned into a rag) that had a regular column written by an up and coming Formula Atlantic driver named Bobby Rahal. He told of a rare phenomenon (I don’t think it had a name back then) that only happens when the driver is in second place or farther back. He slips into a sort of trance like state where his only focus is the car in front. Loss of peripheral vision, most sound perception, feeling in arms and legs, no sensation of pain or discomfort. The driver would sort of “join’ with and become part of the machine and time would seem to slow down. As “part” of the machine he would become almost “superhuman” and the car would suddenly start turning faster laps with incredible precision (because everything else had “slowed” down). The key thing here is that the driver would never be aware of it when it was happening, only some time afterward and the “trance” would only be broken by something like the checker flag drop. This supports the ‘reformed memory’ theory except for one thing. Referring to the recorded lap times they actually got faster and more consistent during the time this sort of “trance” took place. This happened to me once (outside of an accident) in 10 years of racing and all of the above happened and I never remembered the newspaper article until even years later. I’m just wondering if some people could be subject to a more “drastic” form of memory “reform”.

Also known as a "sublime state". Some of my friends who were at Bastogne used that to describe it. Germans coming at them out of the smoke and fog and, seemingly, plenty of time to pick them off, one by one.

Sister said my 5 year old niece kept talking and giggling and in a restaurant. Suddenly said "leave me alone" in a rather turse tone. Sister asked her who she was talking to and she replied "that little boy". (Just my sister, her daughter and husband setting alone at a remote table) Come to find out later that's one of the reported ghosts other folks have seen in this old hotel- and restaurant.

I would not say it was as solid as you and me but it was not semi-transparent. You could not see the wall behind it.
When I first turned around I really thought there was a young boy standing in my hallway and the first thing that came to my mind is where did you come from and feared someone kid had broken into my home It was not until it walked threw the wall that I realized it was a ghost.
I do not remember hearing any foot steps but to be truthful I was so startled a freight train could have been passed in my front yard and I would not have heard it.

It would be interesting to compare as many of the fine details you can remember to those of others who have had a similar experience. For some reason I seem to think of some of the more mundane details and what they mean. For instance; when it walked through the wall would there have been a similar level on the other side to walk onto and if not why walk through the wall and onto what or going where? Bazaar.

happens on the interstate more than anyone would care to admit.... a combine operator without header control combining beans can relate to that condition,,, after a long productive day, I was able to combine with out lites ,and get one more wagon load , and I done a good job by moonlite ,simply by the
FEEL of the machine , , next day I could tell no difference from field stubble ,..

Palmer House in Sauk Centre, MN? IIRC, you"re in MN. For fun, google Shadowlands Haunted Places Index MN.

Do I believe in ghosts? Kind of. Our 27 year old daughter passed away 11 years ago and ever since then we occasionally see an orb , or little circle in some of our family pictures that have her three daughters in them. Two months ago when we took a family picture in the hallway of a hotel with no windows or reflective surfaces there was a small blue slash across the front of one of her daughters. My daughter-in-law adamantly believes this is a sign from our late daughter. And now she has Marilyn believing in this stuff too.

Me, I don't know yet. My son warned me to never tell my daughter-in-law about the man who was shot to death outside our back door back in the mid 1890's. The daughter-in-law graduated from college with a 4.0 grade point in psych but I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Jim

Just my opinion, but If it could walk through a wall??? I don't think it would be concerned with what was beyond the wall!! LOL

If they can walk thru walls why don't they fall thru the floor?

My house sits on the site of an old Chickasaw indian village. Was a village for hundreds of years for Chickasaws & earlier tribes. The Chickasaws buried their dead in their huts, digging a hole about 4 ft. deep & burying them in a siting position. So I live where prolly thousands of indians were buried over hundreds of years. Never saw a one of them when I was awake or asleep.

Based on the responses, it seems a lot of folks believe in ghosts. I guess I shouldn't be surprised; it's been previously established that an embarrassing number of people here believe you can find buried electrical lines by dowsing. It's not a big jump from dowsing to spirits.

So what is the limit of folks' credulity? Do y'all draw the line at fairies, or do you believe in elves and leprechauns as well?

I am just glad the embalmers tie the corpse's shoe laces together so they cannot chase you when they zombieize.

About a mile and a half down the canyon from the house I live in I was cutting some firewood last fall, just about dark, dropped a small hackberry, shut the saw off, and got this feeling that I better leave, YESTERDAY!. INstantaneous, it hit as the saw stopped. Got out of there as fast as the amigo could pull my trailer over the humps and bumps to the road. Barely slept the next two days. Went back to that pasture last week and cut cedars out of it for a couple days. Feeling started creeping back in if I stepped over the fence to get any. Stay inside the fence, I was fine.

Get home the second night and read a post somewhere on here about Indian trail marker trees, and it starts to make sense. There is a huge (for this area) ash bent over pointing in the general direction of an Indian village that was up near Stockville (and, right past my house).

There's a ton of trees I can cut for firewood down there, but once what's out in the pasture is gone, I am -not- cutting anything else down there. Especially that ash.

I haven't ever believed in ghost until I was walking down our hall one night towards the living room and kitchen (open floor
Plan). Right as I walked past the island bar, the barstool moved about 3' across the floor.

I told the wife about it, and she said on several occasions our bed would shake in the night. She thought it was the dog laid up against it scratching, but when she checked the dog was across the room and it wasn't us doing it either. Other little Occurences happen from time to time. Mostly her china plates getting rearranged in the cabinet and a few pictures falling off the wall in certain rooms. Our house is brand new on land that was all originally forest. No burial grounds or old homesteads here.

Yes.
There are two children here that I have never seen but evidence of their activates is everywhere. One is called "NotMe" and the other is "IDon'tKnow".

According to Symantec, Ghost (general hardware oriented system transfer) EOL was 4.30.13
So, technically ghost does exist, but Norton just doesn't support them anymore.
