Today is the last day for Bet Fair Hollywood Park, alot of history gone down the drain. What a sad situation. I just listen to trainer Jack VanBerg, what a pi$$er he us! Lol,

Not me personally, but my old supervisor used to train horses and follow the tracks around. He usually won enough to keep him in beer and go to Canada fishing every year. He taught my friend and I how to bet on the races one night and we won enough money to buy beer for four of us(two small tables full of empties for my friend and I) and we each had an extra $20 in our pockets in the morning.

The average age of the people at the horse races is getting OLD. LOL

Horse racing used to be the COOL thing to go watch/do. Now you would never see any of the real cool People there.

Also the Casino craze is hurting the horse and dog tracks. People can only gamble so much.

Ya, I know, but they do have some nice looking older JD tractors there! Lol

I always spend some time in the race book when I go to the casino. Maybe make some small bets just for fun. Used to really be into it when I was spending a lot of time in Reno. Lots to it when you are an educated bettor.
But, as other have stated it seems to dying out. All I ever see at the books are old men (nothing wrong with that, I hope to make "old man" someday). We have a horse track about 30 miles away, Golden Gate Fields, and they are always advertising on the sports talk station, directed toward a younger crowd and even families. Never been, the traffic is a nightmare down there. Track is across the bay from San Francisco.

That is what I do. Retired from my real job.
Breed, own and race TB's. I love it. Sad to see Hollywood Park close. Had many good times there.
Spent a lot of good days at Saratoga too, when I lived upstate, then went back for the races every summer for 20 years.

My farming is raising pasture and grass hay for the race horses. Train at Keeneland.

Can't imagine a bigger waste of time and $$$ than going to a race track and betting on which stupid horse is going to beat the other one.At least when I watch football its free and can read and do other things like sharpen chainsaw chains. Never have understood why people want to gamble at race tracks, the lottery or casinos.

And if it wasn't for insufferable b!tch's that think the world aught to always think just like them, we might not have as many replies on this forum.....So thanks for your effort to keep the forum roster full.
