Shipped Tractor Part

I bought a small tractor part and it was shipped FedEx. The latest FedEx Tracking states---"At U.S. Postal Service facility-- Arrived at local Post Office - Allow one to two additional days for delivery."
What this tells me is that the part is being shipped FedEx/USPS?????
I did not know that the two shippers worked together!

all the time
just makes delivery take longer
USPS is faster than FedX
FedX is in my neighborhood every weekday yet hands off to USPS for delivery
much prefer UPS

Thanks---Like I always say "learn something new every day"!
I am in no big hurry and it was shipped free but SEVEN days to ship app. 500 miles, is a bit long.

I don't know what FedEx calls it,but UPS calls it UPS General vs UPS Ground. With UPS there will be a PT in the shipping code when it's shipped that way. It's up to the shipper. General is cheaper than Ground. We had it out with UPS over the whole thing. They told us that if we didn't want something shipped General we needed to tell the shipper to be sure to send it Ground. The driver told us that even if he's here in the yard with a package for us,if there's another one on the truck and it has that PT in the code he HAS to take it to the Post Office,he can't leave it here.

All numbers--No letters in the tracking number.

Its called interline shipment when one shipper uses another shipper to deliver their stuff.
Lots of reasons to do this.
The most likely since it is 4 days before Christmas is the shipper is overwhelmed with Christmas stuff.
I have even seen where shipper X will pick the package up; shipper Y will haul it across the country; and shipper X will deliver it. And you never knew Y was involved.

It sometimes takes longer to get the package when USPS and FedEx or UPS work together, but can save a little on shipping cost. If you need something in a hurry you usually have to pay extra for expedited shipping.

I'll take FedEx and/or USPS over UPS any day. UPS can break an anvil.

I think UPS and FED-X use USPS in rural areas where they have few customers but USPS has to go there anyway for the mail.

It's called drop ship. Both Fedex & UPS intake parcels and transport them to the end delivery Post Office. Some of the Fedex parcels have the USPS route number on them. Both Fedex & UPS transport some parcels and mail for USPS, cheaper than using the passenger airlines.

Sometimes also if the address is just a P.O. box they will drop at Post Office, as UPS and Fed-X need a full address to deliver.

Marilyn just got a package that 'arrived at the local post office' like yours. I don't know who the rural mail carrier happened to be when he delivered it, but he came up the lane, set the box down on the water covered garage approach, and took off. Marilyn was in the house and didn't even know he came.

Our normal mail carrier is a lady who always brings them to the door.Jim

Close to 50% of what we get now is delivered that way. UPS and FED EX both do the same. They come to my shop, will have my package on the truck and can't deliver it to me. They have to take it to the post office so the rural carrier can put a card in the mailbox the next day telling me to drive 12 miles and get it myself. GRRR!!!

I won't buy from any place that ships FedEx.
If and when they used to deliver here, they would leave
packages in the middle of the front yard or at the neighbors.
Joan ordered something to be delivered by FedEx just last week.
She got a notice that they were delayed due to weather so it would
not be delivered that day. But they turned around in our driveway that day.
Enough rant, yes, UPS and FedEx have programs with the USPS.
Apparently the USPS doesn't charge them enough.
Time to raise the price of their stamps!

Good luck. I am waiting for a package from Harbor Freight that was shipped December 3rd via FedEx and the post office. It sat in Memphis for 3 days and it is supposed to be on its way.

I once had a UPS package sent to my local PO,since I get all deliveries of packages there. (This was an Ebay purchase). When I went to the PO to pick up item,I was told there would be a $50 charge to get it. WHAT??? Was explained that the PO wouldn"t make enough on the shipping without the additional charge. This one top of the fact,at least here,UPS uses the Postal Service to deliver packages to outlying areas,a program called "The last mile". So,back the package went, and this time UPS shipped to my home address. As some of the guys have said,UPS supposedly won"t ship to a Post Office box address. Was this an anomaly or what?? Fed Ex isn"t a first choice for me either.

I ordered a item last sunday that was shipped UPS and I got it Weds. I ordered a item 1/2 hr. before that was shipped FED X and I still have not got it and the tracking just says it has been shipped .

Had a package delivered via Fedex-driver put it behind gate leaning against backside of post on unused overgrown lane leading to goat pasture.
Accidently found it a couple days later after it had been rained on. Fortunately no damage.
I try to specify UPS, but sometimes additional charges incurred.

Got my mail out of mailbox Saturday and wasn't expecting package. Package was put in mailbox SUNDAY MORNING @ 10:38!
Apparently, USPS delivers on Sunday--during Holiday. Don't think I ever had that happen?

Our local post master delivers packages personally on Christmas day.
Not mail, just packages in case they were meant to be presents.
I never asked him if he was getting paid for it, but I doubt he is.
