here's what ive been working on, this trailer was ugly! what had paint, was faded to purple, all foward facing surfaces rock chipped so bad i had to go to bare metal, fixed one big dent from the corner of a flatbed turning too tight, sanded the whole thing and featheredged all the pits and scratches, [ a weeks work] then primered and 3 coats of acrilic enamel, outside, as we didnt want overspray in the shop, [ many items and vehicles in there which cant have that happen] it turned out nice, new rubber completes the deal, all i lack once it dries is putting in a new front window and polishing all the stainless trim

What kind of paint did you use?

I'm going to be doing a similar job on a 1978 W&W bumper hitch this summer only in blue.

I thought I might paint the top white and the rest a Ford tractor blue. I have to replace the fenders on both sides because they rusted away where they welded the brace.

We have a monthly, regional publication in Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, called "Farmer's Exchange". Individuals and dealers advertise farm equipment and services in it. There is always an ad for a company that refurbishes stock trailers. The slogan that the company uses is "Don't pull no ugly trailer".

You certainly are not going to be pulling an ugly trailer. Very nice work. Congratulations.

I remove the crank from jack, Put a bracket over the post on jack that has a round mirror attached so I can see as I back up. Remove mirror, put crank back on and all is well. I use a POT pin so I can easly remove and install crank.

WOW, really nice job. Those are hard to work on because most people let them go til they are so far gone there is nothing left to save.

the paint is 'advanced industrial coating" acrilic enamel, i got that from the local carquest store, he ordered it out of his warehouse, it isnt cheap at 200 bucks a gallon but its well worth it

SHARP job!!

I've been painting on one for a year, a little at a time. All those little crannies between the vertical posts and the horizontal rails are hard to prep.

So what makes it better than the enamel paint that you can buy a tractor supply place or Rustoleum? It looks really nice but is it supposed to be fade resistant or have some other qualities?

this is supposed to be anti fade, i also added hardener into the paint to help it last, as tedious as this one was im hoping it will last awhile this time

yes they are! as well as door edges, handels, and most of the horizontal pieces are hand sand as with all the angles a power sander really doesnt help, you just cant get in there

Looks as good as the new Corn-Pro cattle trailer I brought this week. You probably got at allot more money left in your pocket than I do also.
Nice job

Guy from the city bought a little place about a mile from here. He got upset at a $50 hauling fee for his steers to the auction (forty miles from here) so he went to an auction and bought an old stock trailer. He sand blasted it, and threw a nice paint job on it. Then he loaded it with a few steers and headed for market. He didn't get far- the floor was so rotted it started to fall apart before he got out his lane. So, he put some new boards in it. About the second trip to the auction, he noticed the trailer seemed to be pulling crooked. The frames for the trailer were just about shot from salt and manure of about twenty or so years. He ended up just buying a new trailer...

lol, this trailer is a w-w brand out of magill ok, it never had any fancy striping, the only garnish is the stainless steel strip at the bottom of the roof [ not yet unmasked in the photo]
