Snow pusher vs. Blade?

I"ve been seeing ads for "snow pushers" that usually mount on a bobcat. It seems to me that it would fill quickly and become very difficult to push as opposed to an angled blade that shunts the snow off to the side so you can keep going.
Just curious how they work and why you would choose this tool for your tractor.

I have plowed a lot of snow. The best way to move snow for any distance is to get it rolling off the side. IF YOU CAN. Some places you have to just stack it up, and therefore the straight plow works the best. The best of the best is a snow blower, and then a plow up front that swings.

In 2010 we had a deep snow and the town had pushed it very high in front of my mail box. I man came along with a skid loader and pushed that snow away in about 2 passes. Hal

Out here where the wind blows pushing off to the side isn't the brightest idea.

6 inches pushed to the side leaves a crumbrow. Wind blows and you have a driveway with a foot and a half drift, push that to the side, wind blows, even deeper drift.

Several people in my area have the pushers you are talking about and seem to like them.

For a parking lot a pusher might work best / fastest.

If it gets so deep that you can't push it - you should be able to go back to the bucket.

The idea is that you want to push the snow away from the areas most used.

Around here I mostly see them used in big empty parking lots, like a grocery store or a strip mall. Often they use a large articulating loader and put the snow pusher in front of or in place of the bucket.

I don't have any long driveways, but I have two "areas" I clean up. I found a used 12' "snow pusher" that I hang on my TLB. It has a heavy rubber cutting edge. I'm spoiled now! It does the nicest job of cleaning up close, without scalping, that I've ever seen.

If you put an front angle blade on a bobcat, it would push your front end sidewasy. Either use a flat blade or a v-shaped blade on front.

Angle blade on rear of tractor doesn't seem to cause an issue.

I think you get more traction with a front blade.
