Apps for either Ipad or Samsun for Agriculture

I am either going to get something like an Ipad or Samsun Tab II for Christmas. Just wondered if anyone was using any apps related to agriculture/farming?? Also, what do you think is best for the money Ipad or Samsun Tab II? Which do you use? Thanks

I have an iPad. I won't pretend its better or worse, I presume there are trade offs. But I'm happy with it.

For farming, I got one with the cell feature, so you can access the Internet while traveling around. Really nice to be able to use it on the go, watch markets, do stuff out in the field and send data or check web sites, etc. yea, it costs a monthly fee for the cell hookup, but its nice for business.

For apps, I use:

5 from Ag-Phd / Hefty, nice little free apps that do planting populations, fertilizer removal rates, drainage tile calculators, and a pest identifier.

IPM Toolkit from the university of Wisconsin has a newsletter and lots of good info at your fingertips, not my state but close enough to me to be interesting and of value.

N Price also from Wisconsin lets you calculate the different values of nitrogen and which is cheaper per actual unit of N.

Gotomeeting and Connect are apps that connect me to webinars, I have a monthly one with a marketing fella. These do nothing on their own, but are needed to see a webinar.

Soilweb tells you what the soil makeup is under your feet, pretty neat.

ArcGIS is a collection of many many many maps from the govt, a few are ag related. Interesting to page through the many govt statistics

Big Calc Free is a handy calculator.

Corn N Rate is another N cost calculator from Wisconsin.

Smart Office 2 is a word processor and spread sheet program. It reads standard files. This is the only one that costs anything, but I stumbled upon it on a week it was offered for free. It is not the best one out there from my understanding, but since it was free it has worked well for me. It works with many printers that aren't naturally iPad compatible.

AgRacer is a racing game, with tractors on the track.

Weather from Weather Underground does a nice job on weather forecasts and radar maps.

Clonometer HD is a bubble level. Really haven't used it, but its pretty neat just to have.

CityMapstoGo lets you download maps for the counties you want to travel, and then you can follow where you need without being on line. Very handy for a wifi only iPad.

Corn Advisor is from Arkansas I think Extension, nutrient and pests and costs of growing corn.

ID Weeds from U of Missouri helps identify weeds.

Not a great list, but everything was free.....
