Took down this bank almost a year ago. This is what they put in its place. All part of a very large project. The large oak tree was right up against the drive through.

Can we assume this is all for water retention/run off control? To make up for lots of ground being covered over with buildings/concrete/asphalt?

Roger That. Off to the right is a big three story office building surrounded by parking lots. Next week they want us to help take out the sea wall as it was put in wrong.

Some 35 years ago the City of Garland, TX. had a WPA styled revamp of the city square. Was sort of a park at the time. Not the county seat.

They came in and excavated a big recess in the center and bricked the whole shebang including a ledge around it and brick walk encircling the project. Park benches and trees adorned the lower area.

On the North side, somebody messed up the calculations going from East to West as there are about 6 more bricks on one side vs the other. Real obvious once you notice it. So the square is no longer a geometric square.

Still there as far as I know.

So much money wasted- build new buildings to tear then down. Then screw up some basic foundation/wall type work! To me one tiny little indicator of where our country is.
Spent last weekend in Troutman NC. I can't get over the bright red clay. This dirt at least looks better. Looks like it grows grass too!

When I worked in St. Louis there was a hotel/motel I would pass by on the way and a couple years later it got torn down and a very modern looking Cadillac dealership was built. Years later and I didn't work in that vicinity it got torn down and a new hotel was put up. This was in the span of 30-35 years. It just seems like a waste to me tearing down something at the drop of a hat. I guess that corner became more valuable as the years went by.

one of the first company's I worked for had just finished a new building that had a pond in the middle of the complex. The survey crew missed the finish grade of the lake vs the grade of the building. Had to lower the lake by 2 feet. Oops
