We got our statement from our Rural Electric COOP. My capital credit just about pays for the next three months up at the farm.

Bet we dont get a refund from Ameran here in the burbs.

But I do realize they need to make money, so I aint complaining.

Gene, I agree that Ameren needs to make money, but
their charges and ridiculous. They wanted $1700 to
run a line from my transformer to my shed, 100 feet
total. Rural electric company did it for my next
door neighbor for $200. I'm the last one on the
line and the rural elcectric won't cross into
Ameren's territory

After a storm took down the overhead line to my well pump and shed (about 60') and the garage (about 10'), using MY downed wire again, an electrician charged $850. Property insurance carrier paid it as part of a bigger claim (tree on the house and smashed chimney). Would have hated to pay that one out of pocket.

Friend bought a new double-wide manufactured house ahd had utilities hooked up. Every month he got a bill from the electric company for $16, which was about 1/10 of the neighbor's electric bill.

He called the power company and told them that they had a defective meter. They told him that there would be a $175 charge for them to check the meter! He told them to just forget it and kept on paying $16 a month, no matter how much electricity he used.

Their charge to run power down the pole that was already there was $500.00 twenty years ago, and I paid for the wire and meter base.
I built a new house on REC ten years ago, and they set the pole, ran the wire and furnished the meter base and 200amp shut off--- no cost. (We are up to a $25.00 deposit for renters)

I am not up at the farm much, so I pay an "availability charge" of $25. With the electricity I use my total bill is around $35 a month, but some of that is taxes.

I have had nothing but great experiences with the REA.
