Wonder what Bubba would do?

The seat belt retractor on my 2005 buick and 2007 GMC truck needs the spring tightened, however the truck retractor is built the seat. That means I sould have to cut the seat cover to get to the retractor.

Is there a bandage fix? I looked on ebay and there are thousands of seat belt retractors all for repairing OEM. I need something that will keep the seat belt's metal clip out of the way when I close the door.

Wonder what Bubba would do to fix the problem besides getting his knife out and completely removing the seat belt?

I'm waiting for an answer too. The drivers side belt in my 98 Dodge pickup has a permanent crease from being slammed in the door. Jim

You don't need the knife, the seat cover comes off to get to the retractor. Don't like the idea off bubba rigging a seat belt but have had limited success with a drop of a light lube on the ends of the spool. New retractor's the way to go.

I remember when a guy got a ticket because the cop noticed the shiny end of his seat belt dangling our the bottom of the driver"s door.

Check with your Chev dealer cause I believe all safety stuff is replaced free--government law.

(quoted from post at 12:17:05 12/05/13) Buy a FORD and you don't ever have that problem, lol. Must be a GM thing!

Nope, not true.My '06 F250 has had a weak belt retracter since the day I bought it new.

I have an 01 ranger and the dam belt is forever getting slamed in the door or hanging out. Had a 99 Explorer that had the same issue along with a lot of other issues.
