Deutz 5506 Glow Plug

Why Worry

Member
Hello,

Brother and I have a Deutz 5506 and we are suspecting glow plug issues as the tractor is a hard starter in winter.

Has anyone ever changed out glow plugs on a 5506? Any advice would be extremely helpful.

Welcome to the forums.
I've never worked on a 5506, so can't help with specific tips.
On a couple other models I had some success just cleaning
the electrical connections (wires and/or brass bar) to the plugs.
It might help providing you have power going to them.
And it's free to try as long as you don't break anything! :)

Not to be a smart alleck, but are you sure a 5506 has Glow plugs? My cousin has a 5506, I drove it a lot about a decade ago, and I never used any glow plugs on that tractor. It was the best starting little diesel, too, as far as I was concerned. Sorry I'm not much help. -Andy

Don't consider you a smart allec at all. It does have a glow plug and it used to work. There was a yellow pullswitch on the ins. panel that you would pull out for a few minutes and a light on the panel would come on. Now very few of the lights work.
