The last few days I have received via email requests for filling out a survey card offering a gift card. Amazon was the latest, but also have Petco and Wendy's. Sounds like a scam to me.

All of those that have come to my computer have a DISCOUNT offer attached. You get a $30 item for $4.99 plus shipping and handling. Nothing free about those.

Don't forget- anytime you are invited to click on an internet site from an email, it may be just a way for them to get you a virus or a trojan horse. There may be no "survey" at all, but you won't find that out until you have made the fatal click, and your computer goes crazy. Followed very quickly by "that sinking feeling".

I had someone wanting me to update my paypal account. I told them let my paypal account expire and I'll apply for a new one. After about 3 attempts to get my info they gave up.

You bet it is you spend hours filling out one survey after another until you get to spot where must buy something to move on. I never got passed the buy something so I don't know if you ever get the free money.

When I get spam from some of these places I like to fill out the form with fake names and data if we all did that it would sure help putting a stop to these type can you imagin getting millions of fake replies to sort though.

THEY call it a thirty dollar item. but when you receive it, it is more like a THREE dollar item. They just put too many zeros on it. Never have done that with a computer offer, but I fell for Publishers Clearing House "free gift" offer one time, shipping cost more than the "free gift" was worth.

I received an email last night that was a little unusual, for me, anyway. Had some sort of, I guess, nickname, said they were a 23 year old mother of two who was looking for a serious, stable relationship. Well, now, if you are looking for a GRANDFATHER, I may qualify, but I don't think I can deliver what you are looking for. (Don't run long haul anymore, just short deliveries) I don't even open anything like that, straight into the trash!

it's alway amazing how scammers will try to get info from you,,, rather it's e-mail, text [cell phone.. always been told, nothing is free withoput a price to pay for it in the end.....

Wife got started on Publisher's Clearing house... They were sending her packages of paper about three times a week - promising her she was nearly the next winner. She sent back many, only to receive more. Guess she finally got borred, stopped responding, they stopped sending. Never did win - even a dollar. Must have gone on for six months.

Latest one we've been plagued with is a phone call saying we ordered - or friend/family ordered a emergency alert system, (Thinking "I've fallen and I can't get up..."), and it's all paid for, and shipping is paid for. All I have to do is press "1" to arrange delivery...... Yeah, right.

So far, I've been able to get up when I fall!

Many years ago while getting a truck worked on, I was sitting in the waiting area and saw one of those "Fill this out to win...something". I never had before, but I was bored and what the heck. Next thing you know, I got bombarded by everybody trying to sell me..., calling me by name and everything that I filled out on that card at the repair shop. Never did that again.

However, if you are sitting in the waiting area of a truck repair and they have some of those "FREE..." cards and there is someone that you don't care much for, well by all means...

We had a run of junk mail like that a few years ago from about 3 different places. Started using the return envelopes to send back the info from one of the other places. They all 3 stopped after a while plus it reduced the paper in the trash can.

All of the crap that comes in the mail often has a postage paid mailer with it. We just stick the opener into it and send it back to the sender with no address on it. I figure if everyone did it, they'd soon go out of business for return mailing costs...

Good going, Cliff. I have been doing about the same for many yrs. I wonder what they think when they open the envelope. Sepetic tank chemicals in an envelope for a free vacation? It has been fun. clint

I knew two high school boys who were bitter enemies. One would take all of the reply cards out of the magazines and send in with his enemies name on them. Later librarian removed all cards

Son's 8th grade class was having a magazine drive- son wanted to buy a magazine, and just for fun, he subscribed in the name of our family dog, Buddy. We got junk mail for Buddy for many years thereafter. Highlight was an offer of a $25,000 line of credit from Bank of New York, which was also where I had my Money Market account- decided they were being a little reckless with my money, so pulled out of there pronto. Buddy was a good dog, but not THAT good.

I have a wood stove in the basement, get to use all the junk mail for free heat. I am tired of some guy calling me about rustcoat though.
