John Deere B 3rd Gear

Hi mine does the same except my shifter stays in the third gear slot and pops out of gear the shifter never moves any ideas? Thank you guys

Must be a late model?

Worn bearings, gears & shafts. Detent springs
& balls worn, shift forks/rails out of
adjustment.
But my guess is worn/bent top shaft & gears....
It was the most used gear in the tractor...

Mine also does that in both 3rd and 5th gears, when the engine is holding the tractor back.

Most recently, I was trying to tow start the tractor last week when it let go. Hopefully it will be warm enough this weekend to pull the top of the transmission and take a look.
