Bow and arrows

Seeing NC Wayne's post reminded me that I saw a couple of scope sighted crossbows in a store today. Man, those things are expensive! $500-$600. How far can they hit things anyway? seems like I heard 50-100 yards but I've never shot one.

I don't shoot at deer any farther away than 40yds with mine. I think you could stretch it out to 50 if needed, but I know i'll hit my mark every time inside 40. I noticed they start to slow down alot at that range too.

I have a 10 point. Their instruction video shows that it actually drops more at the same yardage as a comparable FPS compound bow. I won't shoot over 40yds. With the scope, it is almost impossible to miss. Make sure of your hunting situation before you buy. They are a whole lot heavier and more cumbersome than a compound. When you get as old as me, the Acudraw is the only way to fly.

Been bow hunting with one for 10 plus years now due to a bad back and shoulder. Like a compound bow 50 yards is about max for a good kill on something like a deer. Due to the fact the power stroke of a cross bow is a whole lot shorter then a compound bow. When I got my Barnett Quad 300 I payed $500 for it from Brass pro shop. It throw a bolt at around 300 FPS and I had killed a good many deer with it. The scope has 5 cross hairs. Top for 10 yards and bottom 50 yards and the 50 yard is max recommend by Barnett

A scope doesn't ensure a hit unless it's properly adjusted, just like with a rifle or pistol or shotgun.

Yea, but once adjusted (don't know anyone that hunts
without first sighting) you don't have to worry
about a proper anchor point when shooting.
