If you happen to be traveling down I 95 through
North Carolina be sure to check out the Tobacco farm

There are exhibits re-creating an early to mid 20th
century tobacco farm including a farmouse, equipment
and an actual tobacco barn taken from a local farm.
Web site is:
Tobaccofarmlifemuseum.org
Check it out!

I just checked out their website, looks very authentic. The old wood heated curing barn really goes back! I grew up on a small tobacco farm, and while you couldn't pay me enough to go back, I feel that it is important to have museums like this so people can see "how we usta do it"! Thanks for the post.

We've been there several times as an exhibitor and visitor. It is a real nice and informative place.

Has the museum got anything to do vith the movie called Tobacco Road?
The movie had its setting in Georgia, but vas filmed in Californy.
Ve grew tobacco, it vas hot wyrk, but paid tha bills.

There is a very small tobacco museum in Ripley, Ohio. Not on the the scale as yours, but it shows the age old process. Mark

Growing up on a tobacco farm is what motivated me to stay in school and go on to college and professional
training. After a summer hanging 'baccer in a pole barn I was ready to hit the books again.
