This is at a sale a few miles from my house next Saturday. How much should it bring? Thought that I might bid on it but I have no idea what it is worth. Thanks

300U have one and payed $100 for it not running. If it does not have power steering you will not like it since they steer very hard with out power steering.
So now fill in the blanks. Does it run?? If not is the engine locked up etc etc etc

jblands, what kind of Sale??? Garage sale, Private treaty, Farm Auction, Estate sale!????What.
Does it run/ is it Stuck or Loose, Tires Been flat for a while, are there deep Cracks and Breaks??? do they hold air and are just round and Black?
Does it have a 3 pt or 2pt fast hitch? Looks like a gas engine! Has it had antifreeze kept in it? or has it froze and busted the Block?
Are there any Obvious Breaks, repairs, Welds and the like? Is it still parked in the waist high weeds? the Weeds can obscure many problems!!!!
IMO a 300 Utility will weigh 5000 lbs Scrap price $500! there is the bottom, or lower depending on interest of others.
You haven't elaborated on any other Details if any are known.
IMO $300 to $700 tops till you answer some Questions!!!!
Later,

From the Pic it looks abandoned, Lack of attention, tells me it has been neglected and abused!!! My thoughts Hope this helps!

I agree with Old. They were hard to steer and the brakes were terrible. The clutch worked hard. They were pretty good for brute strength. Hydraulic pump is costly to replace. The Farmall was somewhat better but still poor brakes. I would let the salvage bidders have it.

Thanks for the replies. I don't know anything about it. I just saw it on the online auction site. It is a machine shop selling out and the tractor is setting behind their shop. They are only 4 or 5 miles from my house. If it goes for scrap price, I may buy it.

I would say now days it is worth around $500 just for scrap. When we got the one we have scrap price was around $75 a ton which would be nice it it was that now since so many old tractor have gone to China due the scrap being so high

I'd give a bit more than scrap as she sets. I have a 300u and a pair of 350u's. Tough old girls, that steer horribly without power steering. It doesn't appear to have a TA. If engine is free and not destroyed can USUALLY be brought back to running condition. Maybe as high as a grand if running and holding air.

About two ton at $ 265.00 a ton would be $530.00 .Seriously doubt that it would be worth what it will take to get it going when you got thru with it. Tough little tractors but drove like a tank.

"how much do I pay?"It all depends on how bad you want it.Are there more like it?do you just want an old tractor to play with?Is it a must have?I reccntly bought a JD 'A' tractor.I was prepared to pay whatever it took to get that tractor.I didnt care 'what it was worth'.I just wanted THAT tractor.Old tractors rarely have a 'set price/value'.The scrappers/salvagers know pretty well the dollar value.Watch them, out bid them if you want it. they wont let it go "too cheap".And they damn sure wont pay too much. The guys who always ask "whats it worth" usually dont buy anything because they are afraid that they will "pay too much".
