Day after;2nd day of a 4 day wknd, whatever you call it....What did you do today?Work at your 'day' job? Travel?Life as usual?Absolutely nothing......?

I have a music turn table that is USB output with a line output to an amplifier. I spent 5 hours putting instrumental music on a terabite archives USB drive, and editing out scratches as well as labeling each track. Joy, I think not. Jim

Piddled at my leisurely pace on two ole Farmall tractors:

Replaced a wheel clamp on the Farmall h so I can move it around. (Plan to replace the the cast center come spring).

Worked on the Farmall M's 3 point hitch kit. Cut some steel and drilled some holes. Hope to do some welding tomorrow.

First day back at work after a minor surgery on Mon. and then the holiday. Be out til the 12th this time.

I got all the trees trimmed up, took load of lumber with nail to neighbors burn pile and started organizing/cleaning shop. My buddy got his own shop built so I am helping him get his stuff out of mine.

The bigger fuel injector did not come in for the MH44, so no messing with that this weekend. I did get it measured for the new front step.

I measured up the 3 point on my 6610 so I can fab up stabilizers. It has all the pins, but PO lost the bars.

Replaced the fuel shut of coil in a johndeer engine
running a Lull squirt boom lift. Got the unit fired up after setting for 3 years. Got all the Christmas stuff out so the wife could start on the tree, filled the bird feeders and took a nap. pretty good day.

Took a little "day trip" abt 1.5 hrs away to pick up a pristeen ARPS built 3pt 8' back blade for the snow that I just know is coming this winter. In very straight and low use condition for $225. Probably could double my $ but it's so perfect for what I need that I;m just gonna keep it and give it the new paint it deserves and use it. That company made some good quallity stuff. Out of New Holstein, WI.

Raining here today on the left coast.Help the wife put some Thanksgiving stuff away. Finished cutting down a 3/4 in bolt,to 1/2 and threading it. to make a special large head bold for one om my Indian Motorcycle projects. After finishing it I realized I had the wrong head size bolt to start with, the head size is just a little bigger than it should be. Going to use it anyway, as it is so close to the original, only I will know. Except now, all you know of my mistake. Stan

Quite a bit of lollygagging here. First day off in a couple weeks. Took myself out to lunch then had a championship quality nap.
Did manage to spend some time workin in the shop, so not a total day off. Gonna go catch the last quarter of the Civil War game at some friends, Then to a movie, I think ;-)

Rode my motorcycle from Jacksonville Fl. to Lexington Kentucky 710 miles. I'm now sitting in a motel getting warmed up for the rest of the trip tomorrow. 460 miles North to home. They are calling for a low of 25 tonight here and a high of 35 tomorrow at home. Its not as bad as it sounds though, with the right bike and the proper clothing.
After 50 years of riding and 38 motorcycles its still my favorite mode of transportation. My son in Florida would have thought something was wrong if I would have showed up at his wedding last Saturday on anything else.

Worked a half day at the job that pays for my insurance, then I went to work on my snowmobile, with some help from my seven year old grandson. He got to eyeing my pulling trophies in my shop, then he spotted some lying around due to no shelf space, then he told me that he found one in a box marked trash or something. So I got a box from two years ago down and told him to help himself. He was very excited, and my wife told me later that she saw him put two in his mom's car and bring just one into the house to show her. I expect that she will be surprised when she finds whats in the car when they get home.

Took a flat rear tire off my tractor due to valve stem hole rusted out. Cut out the rot and welded in a new piece of steel.

As I was walking in from the shop noticed my neighbors (Kids) cooking something in the yard.
Even with all the left overs in my fridge my kids were deep frying a second turkey. I guess their moms baked turkey was not good enough for them.

Pulled over 50 Birch trees out for my neighbor to cut for his winter firewood. Timberjack 205 skidder did good! Has a rebuilt Fordson Super Major motor and it has good power and torque.

Fed cattle ,moved bred hiefers to different pasture, moved furniture for nieghbor, then cut firewood for a homeless shelter.Tomarrow go to my best friends fathers funeral and hopefully take a couple of tractors to a Christmas parade.

hauled 4 loads mud from my shop to a dump site, set out 4 small trees ,took a 450 case dozer from shop to my sons house took a 656 ih from his house to my shop 20 mile trip, had a busy day ,my oldest son helped ,thankgivings over had to get back to work, tom

Worked on helicopters in the southern Caribbean today. Hot, humid and rain, but pays the bills and allows for me to enjoy time off in MO with tractor and target shooting. Will be home for Christmas and New Years this year.

hale of a day ,,. movin 3 different grains , shuttling , wagons , trucks,,finally got the other bin swept of wheat and poured corn in,, durn fan fuse is trashed that starts the motor,,.last of soybeans now are on the 58 chevy truck,,finally got to shell corn this evenin ,, made 3 rounds and the sun set as I was filling the 1st wagon ,,.. finished the field at the bikle place , 2 full wagons and half combine bin ful ...

Another day at the day job. But its always a good day to work.
Most folks are off so I get a lot done without interruptions.
(seems like I've said this before LOL)

Helped the wife clean up from the big dinner yesterday. Cooked waffles for all the kids and grandkids for breakfast. Helped the boys haul firewood to the house, they have enough in the basement to last until the end of February and I have a huge empty space in my woodpile. Threw away the pumpkins decorations from fall and dug parsnips with my nephew. Still a zoo around here with kids and grandkids, but they go home tomorrow and then it's back to normal.

Took care of critters this AM, feed, water and watch em for a bit. Went and got some feed, ordered another 200 gallons of LP for the house (tanks about 45% before this). Went and did my "black Friday" shopping at Home Depot this evening, got the stuff to install a breaker box and rewire the wife's chicken coop (tomorrows chore).

(quoted from post at 18:57:08 11/29/13) Day after;2nd day of a 4 day wknd, whatever you call it....What did you do today?Work at your 'day' job? Travel?Life as usual?Absolutely nothing......?

Drove 403 miles to pick up a 1983 Allis 6080 that I got the high bid on at AuctionTime on Wed. It's my newest tractor now....

started body work and sanding on a stock trailer, got a week and a half to get it looking new, and a steer put a nice dent in the nose of it

Worked the day job, came home, changed oil in one of the vehicles, got the window well covers on, burned leaves for an hour, got all the Christmas decorations ready to be put up.
Tomorrow, will get all the gear ready for the 2nd. half of firearm deer season. The muzzleloader will sing next Thursday thru Sunday! 2 in the box already from archery season. The next one will be for the crew at work to share.

Working on replacing the radius arm bushings on my 95 F250 RWD. The drivers side actually dropped one of the rubber bushings out so it would clunk and clatter pretty good. I have to heat the nut to get it apart (torch is at the farm, truck is in my garage at home.... plus we're out of Acetylene....)

Doing the ball joints while I'm there, along with the shocks on the front. Ball joints are still good, but non greasable. Tie rod ends feel good yet. Brake pads and rotors can't have more than a few thousand miles on them. Virtually no wear on new rotors and pads

Ordering the hoses to the calipers from Rockauto (even with shipping, it's considerably cheaper, with more options) and a few other things I didn't the first time around.

Anything else I should check out since I'm in there already? Not much left to look at on the front. Gotta do some work on the rear brakes, the previous owner (wifes nephew) left parking brake on and got on the highway. Will probably pull the rear tires off and do an inspection on Sunday (next chance to work on it) so I can put it all on the same order.

Will have the alignment checked when it's all back together.

Not a happy camper with Ford Dealership. F250 went in Monday for an oil leak. Was High Pressure pump pipe leaking......$275. Today they called and said the High Pressure pump was cross threaded and leaking. $1600. They were the one that repaired it about four years ago. Will have a chat with them tomorrow.

After morning chores, I ran to town. Stopped at Orcheln's to get a short piece of chain. Went to the market for 1/2 gallon of milk and a couple other things. Got back home and peeled, boiled and mashed taters. Then went over to my sister's house for Thanksgiving. Got home in time to do evening chores.

Fitted the new-to-me clutch peddal assembly from a 1978 MF-255 to my MF-240. Will finally have the press-forward feature, get rid of that stomp down feature.
Tody, wife and son are going to Eureka Springs ARK.

Well, its yesterday now, but I got up and shut off the alarm at 5:00, crawled back in bed and slept til 7:45. Got up,went to my sister's and helped my nephew finish up the wiring project that got abandoned four years ago when when we remodeled. Thrashed around and moved a bunch of furniture for her, brought her old couch home and tossed out our old one.

Younger boy is home from college for the week, he drove up in the evening to get his brother, we will be eating turkey today.

Woke up Thanksgiving morning to a broken water main ten feet from the water meter. Spent a lot of my day Friday finding and repairing the line. Tough to do with your head buried up to your waist. I did get to use the tractor to blade all the dirt back in the hole.

Cut some wood--I'm clearing a bunch of box elder around the old barn/house lawn. I hope to sell fire wood next year. I have lots of oak; I'll burn the box elder. I need to build a fence around my wood stacking area because it will be right by the road and our house sits back 1000 feet from there. If I add a gate it will be easy for customers to load wood.

I also took my 12-week-old beagle pup for a walk. We found a rabbit inside an old bird enclosure I had. Put the pup in and the chase was on for a couple of minutes until the rabbit found the door. Pup tried to track him but he's still young. Sure was excited though.

Today I'll be working on rebuilding part of my kennel.

Larry

worked half day at job put new tractor tire on rear plowed a sod field tough plowning hard clay soil but fun

It was 3 above yesterday AM. Took 3 hours to do chores that normally take 1 hour or so. Then had youngest boy help me get the JD40C with the bad clutch out of a bad spot. Clutch just wouldn't give her enough grunt to get the frozen tracks up a little hill and no room to do a 180 and drive out in 1st. Got that done and got the yard sort of plowed from the 6-8" of hard snow. Hard lunch, went to town for milk and grain, stopped by church to see if I could get in to put the heat tape and insulation I bought on the water pipe in the basement but Pastor was gone, got back and worked getting all the buried stuff found and unfrozen so I can put my manure spreader back together. The spreader needs to be done so I can move the 2 tillers I was working on out of the garage so I can get my JD40C up to the garage to do the clutch. Before I really get into that I need to get the stove pipe in so I have some cheap heat. Then we did chores again and prepared the best meal- Thanksgiving left overs! Delicious! Spen tthe rest of the evening with my youngest boy watching 2 Jimmy Stewart westerns- "Bend of the River" and "The Far Country" while mom and the girls watched girl shows involving murder and feelings and such.

Today will be a repeat with moving the sheep and some round bales added and the trip to town out of the picture.

Sawed up some firewood in the morning, Went and check cows and calves on bean field and waterways. Will have to move them off soon. Boy has a doctor friend that is leaving town for 3 or 4 month and wanted to know if I would go by and get his 5020 Allis and store it at my place. This tractor only has 508 hours on it. Then did chores at home. That sun falls fast this time of year.

Removed frost blankets from the fields, opened up sides of tunnel houses and greenhouses to vent. Picked and prep for Saturday market. Nice warm sunny day after two days of cold and freezing nights.

1. Burnt a big brush pile.

2. Repaired an air line to the pond, frozen in, had to chisel it out to replace fitting. Some dummy ran over it with the tractor (me).

3. Re-arranging/cleaning barn to put everything away, then start on all the winter maintenance.

4. Took one kid to a soccer tournament, took the other for pizza, somehow ended up with 2 more kids then I left the house with! ha ha.

I clean all my equipment mid-December, then do all the greasing and other repairs, then stage it in the order I need it in the spring. Saves a ton of time. I end up spending 2-4 hours a night during the winter in the shop. Sometimes just tinkering.

Rick

Much as it pains me, I dug the blowsnower out of the back of the barn.

Cleaned it up, greased it, lubed and adjusted the auger drive chain, waxed the chute and blower housing, replaced the shear pins and a busted grease zerk.

Hopefully, that'll ward off the snow goblins for a few more weeks.

Got up first thing at my sons place (75 miles E of us) loaded the truck up and came home so I could play 50 and over hockey for 2 hours in Chelsea, MI. My son showed up to play with us, we play at 1:30 on Tuesdays and noon on Fridays. We each got 2 goals and I had 2 goals last Tues. Its real fun to play effective hockey at 66 yrs old along with some kids! Then home to some swmbo"s homemade chili, yum! Then to the auction (6pm in Gregory, MI) bought a couple of things, saw my cousins boy, wife and little girl, invited them over for a cuppa and had a nice visit. Oh, cleaned up some downed twigs and burnt them and some garden debris up and brought some firewood up to the house. A great day, we"re both still on the green side of the grass, and I was in NO fistfights today!

You have quite a string of projects lined up in order to get to that dozer, LOL. You need a key to the church so that you can do those jobs on your Schedule.

If I had the key they'd expect me to do it all by myself! Funny how no one else wants to help in a basement with 4 1/2 feet of head room.

The JD repair is just the start. You don't want to know......

I will say, after reading this I'm amazed at the number of people who don't seem to have much on their plate. All I can say is good for you! Wish I had problems like that.
