the guy came back and asked me what i was doing out there and tried to kick me off he did not know where he was he sad it was his grandpas i said i only have one nephew and you are not him it turns out that his grandps rents the crop ground my father inlaw did not give permisson to any one but me

yep i one time had a large group show up were going to drive out over fields when i kicked them out one said he was going to sue because i interefered with his hunters rights !! one got mad because i chewed him out for breaking a fence wire 10 ft from a gate. dont mind one or two hunters as long as the stop and think ive worked hard to have this property that your using for free

That one can be a bit of a oh no thing. Since his grand father rents the law then it may depend on how the rent is set up. Sounds like some people need to sit down and talk and make sure each person knows what the limits of rent etc etc is

I was deer hunting across my farm one day when I saw a man leaning against a tree. As I watched a deer walked behind him about fifty feet. I slowly approached him and when I saw he was not going to look in my direction I called out and asked him if the deer was a doe. He was surprised to se me and said there was no deer near him and then asked what I was doing there as he was the only one who had permission to hunt there.

When he told me to leave and not come back I decided he should leave and not come back. It seemed he had received second hand permission from a friend of his that I didn't even know. If he had been halfway friendly I would have let him finish his hunt.

Brandon, quite often the hunting rights also follow the crop lease on a piece of ground. I always make sure that there is an understanding between the owner and myself as the lessee, because I like to hunt, and like to keep the deer population down on the places I farm. Talk with the guy- he may become one of your best hunting buddies and open some other places up to you to hunt. At the least, he may likely help you control outside poachers that you do not want.

I had rented ground for awhile and the land owner told me that aslong as i was renting it it was my place and it was up to me to let whomever i wanted there . Anybody else was tresspassen . My buddy Sid and i were down there deer hunting and Sid was the owners son in law . We had set up about three or four hundred yards apart , i was over by the north fence up against a big tree and Sid was set up on a high spoil back . We could see a guy off about five or six hunder yards on the neighbors side in a tree stand . we all could see each other . As i was setting there enjoying the nice day i heard what sounded like a cattle stampede coming up from behind me , then i here some guy say would you look at this some idiot put up this here fence with five strands of barb wire and i might rip my new hunting pants on it . Then one guys say nah i have fence pliers will just cut it . With that i came around the tree and here is 8 guys standing on the other side of the fence on the one neighbors side that was posted not fifteen feet from another posted sign on my side and they are about to cut the fence . I don't think so . Now how they got past the neighbor and her daughter i'll never know but they can thank there lucky stars they did as she would not talk she would SHOOT . They were rather nasty and one did make threats till they saw Sid coming and he was taking aim then the guy in the tree stand was coming on a dead run . To back us up. Here these guys were from Cleveland area and a whole herd of them came down and this group was making the drive and had twice as many down on other land waiting . We made them walk the line fence back down to the dirt road and walk the road back to there buddys . As for the Crazy neighbor lady and her daughter they patrolled there 960 acres by jeep and they used 3006 to do the talking . I got along just fine with her as she liked the idea of the line fence and the clearing of twenty feet each side of the fence that way she could get her jeep around the south side .

At least you're not guilty of doing anything rash and don't have to regret anything next time you run in to these people.

Hunting is pretty much considered a separate issue in terms of a rental agreement on land that was originally leased for crops around these parts. I know some of the Mennonites have also had issues in terms of buildings as landowners here do not consider the buildings as part of the cropland lease which is apparently different than Pennsylvania.
The big issue people have here is liability. It's hard not to paranoid when the local television stations are infested with commercials for liability lawyers. Also, some hunters here have been on record as not giving a darn as to the concerns of land owners. Further, some hunters cry about how it is not fair that these landowners should have so much where the hunter has so little. The motto for the landowner is protect, protect, and protect some more.

Same here as far as farm land rental being separate of hunting. I've got one guy right down the road who's hunted birds on me since he was just a kid who keeps wanting to hunt on the places I rent. I've told him until I'm blue in the face to go talk to the owners and leave me out of it,that it's got nothing in the world to do with me.

I am the only one with permission to hunt a farmers property. He lives on another farm a few miles away. We currently have 6 people hunting without permission. Another man called him and asked to hunt. Owner told him I am hunting that place. The "hunter" goes to a next door neighbor and gets permission to hunt his side of the line. "Hunter" then has the nerve to set up 2 ladder stands, one on each corner of a narrow woods, looking directly at the property line and not over 20 feet from the fence. I usually hunt about 40 yards off the fence and facing at an angle away from the fence. He wants to hunt the same trail I guess. I was out yesterday in my stand and he even had the nerve to wave at me as he was leaving. I am going later today and talk to the people that gave him permission but don't know if it will help.

When my son in law explained to the super hunters at the coffee shop, that I would hold them by gun point till the sheriff arrived if I caught them on my 40ac, the short cut through my front yard stopped.

(quoted from post at 12:44:52 11/24/13)
The law in Ohio requires hunters to have [b:903602a469]written permission from the landowner[/b:903602a469]/b]r to hunt, Otherwise it is a poaching or trespassing offense,
Any issues with trespassing hunters should be reported to the game warden or sheriff in your area immediately.

I know a guy who built a big cattle guard on the from of his pickup with big "Vs" on it to catch strands of barb wire and cut it so he doesn't even have to slow down when he drives through a fence.

I told him if I even saw that thing driving by my place I'd probably take a shot at it. His only comment was "You ain't the first one to say that".

Local farmer here about a week ago called the game warden to report trespassers. As the game warden was talking to the farmer a guy stops on the road about 50 yards away, sticks a gun out of the truck window and shoots a deer. That's pretty bold when you can see people dressed head to toe in orange and still illegally shoot a deer. Game warden got the guy, confiscated the truck and gun. Guy will have to talk to the judge to see just how much he gets back, how long before he can hunt again if ever and just how much money/time this is going to cost him. Another local guy that could have farmed and had a place to hunt but lost it cause farming was too hard.

A friend fell asleep against a stock tank on his grandfather's land last year. Got woke up by a guy throwing him off the ground as he was trespassing, and he was going to call the game warden if he didn't get moving. My friend pulls out his phone and says here, I'll call him for you, calls and tells where to pick him up at. Noticed Colorado plates on the guys truck so puts two rounds from his 7Rem MAG into the guys engine compartment as the warden pulls up.
He got sued, the Colorado hunter got cuffed and had to pay to fix his own truck.
